Más que interesante adición a la serie Men at Arms sobre un conflicto apenas conocido y que fue el preámbulo de la IGM en ese peligroso puzzle que era (y sigue siendo) la zona de los Balcanes.En el libro se narra de firma abreviada, pero siempre con rigor la historia y precedentes del porqué de las dos guerras que hubo en esa zona entre 1912 y 1913.Se sigue después con una cronología mes a mes de los principales enfrentamientos y acciones entrando luego a analizar la situación militar de Bulgaria, Serbia, Montenegro, Grecia, Turquía y Rumanía.Se describen también los detalles de uniformes y armamento empleado.Las láminas son de buena calidad y ayudan a entender lo recogido en el texto.

Excellent little primer for a wargamer.

As a graduate student in political science and history in the 1980s, I studied the two Balkan Wars of September, 1912 until May of 1913; and of June 1913 through August of 1913. However this book added much detail to my understanding of those two wars which were a prelude to the First World War.

Whereas a lot of Osprey Men-at-Arms titles tend to promise more than they deliver, Armies of the Balkan Wars is the exception. The author clearly knows his topic intimately and has provided large, clear photos that show the wide variety of uniforms worn by combatants during this very complex conflict. His captions are well-written and each informs the reader why the photo is important--both in an historical context and in the study of uniforms, accouterments and weapons.
