Perfect and affordable replacement for the Apple version
I needed a longer cable to connect my Mac Studio to the Studio Display and as this was on a discount I bought it. The Apple version is way too expensive, I don’t attach anything to the monitor and basically it does the job perfectly.

Great cable - the people leaving poor reviews don't understand what this cable is for!
This is a great cable. It is one of only a handful of cables to support full Thunderbolt 3 at 40Gbps, 100W of charging power, and long lengths of up to two metres. As listed in the description, this cable does *not* support USB 3, because it is an "active" cable - a necessity for Thunderbolt 3 cables longer than half a metre. The other reviewers seemed to expect USB 3 support. I've tested it with an LG UltraFine 5K display and it works perfectly. It can also be used as a charging cable. My only criticisms would be that the branding on the cable ends is ugly and unnecessary, and it would be nice for the Thunderbolt logo to be whiter rather than the yellowish off-white that it is; it looks quite cheap when plugged into a MacBook Pro next to the Thunderbolt 3 cable LG provides for its UltraFine 5K display - see pictures.

Excellent Thunderbolt cable.
I use this with Thunderbolt 3 devices such as external SSD storage and video capture devices by BlackMagic and it has never failed. I have other TB cables which are TB3 and have had issues. I’m not saying that just because this is TB4 it makes it better than TB3 cables for TB3 devices but it is definitely the most reliable cable I have. I use this on a MacBook Pro M1 Max, which has TB4 ports. Maybe it’s the combination of the Mac’s ports with this cable that make it so reliable? I don’t know. However, the combination is perfect. I also use it with a couple of USB C SSDs and it’s flawless. Without a shadow of a doubt I would recommend this cable, it just works.

Reliably drives a high refresh rate 4k HDR monitor.
Purchased to connect M1 Macbook Air and Razer Blade Pro laptops to a 4k HDR 10-bit colour 144 Hz monitor. It has done this flawlessly in both cases, and has been much more reliable than an HDMI 2.1 connection with the Razer. It has also reliably charged the Macbook via the monitor. The length has been very useful and allowed greater flexibility with positioning of devices relative to the monitor. The cable management with this is also made easier by the soft-feeling flexibility of this Caldigit cable. It is much more flexible, practical, and reliable than the HDMI cable that came with the monitor. Overall, I am pleased with the performance and quality. It could be that the price reflects the cost of producing an active Thunderbolt 4 cable, but it does feel very expensive for what it is - hence my overall rating of four stars (I would have given it four and a half stars if I could have).

Great quality
A fantastic quality cable with great value for money. The cable length is perfect for connecting something a little further away (or mounting a dock under your desk as I did). Have purchased multiple of these cables and wouldn’t hesitate to buy again!

great for connecting external GPU enclosures
Used on a Dell XPS 13 9380 laptop to connect to a Razer Core X e-GPU containing a nVidia 1060 graphics card. The (passive) cable that comes with the enclosure means that you'd need to have the enclosure right next to the laptop, with its' fans running close to where you're sitting. Using this cable you can have it on the floor tucked out of the way - both visually and in terms of the noise - and I've experienced no trouble whatsoever with this setup. Yes - as mentioned in other reviews - the plugs get slightly warm, but that's because they have heat generating components inside - and they've certainly never got too hot to touch. Expensive for what seems to be just a cable - but worth it.

Great quality, does the job, 40gbps over a 2m cable
***Update after 1 year*** cable still good, but I've realised it is slightly more sensitive to connector wiggles than the passive 20gbps cables. If you wiggle the cable a tiny bit too much the connection will disconnect unexpectedly and possibly cause BSOD etc. I have stopped using this with my laptop when it is not stationary (e.g. on my lap while I have screens connected). This cable was a really great purchase. It's so worth having the extra slack in the Thunderbolt 3 cable. Allows you to move your laptop or lean back with feet on the desk without accidentally disconnecting the EGPU. The connector is quite long due to the chips inside them required for the active TB3 handshake. They also get quite hot under load, when I'm maxing out the GPU with a few screens and a lot of disk activity on the dock the connector is hot to the touch.

Not cheap, but none of these T4 cables are
Reviewing cables is like pulling teeth, only more painful. What I can say is that these have decent build quality, perform as expected from a CalDigit product (I have a CalDigit T4 hub) but a shame that they cost so much. That said, better value than much of the competition in this market.

As a home studio artist, I need my gear to communicate flawlessly. Time to create is precious. Nobody wants to spend time troubleshooting when they could be creating. I purchased this cable based on my experience with CalDigit products over the years. My studio centers around a UAD Apollo x6 thunderbolt interface - consider it the heart and my computer the brain. You want those two things connected and working. Installation was simple - it's a cable, after all. It took seconds to connect the audio interface to my computer. I was creating tracks within minutes of startup. Here I am, over 1.5 years later, telling you that this cable has performed exactly as it should - and worth every penny spent. Is it a little pricier than some that are available here? Yes. But, what is your time worth? You plug it in, and it just works. No lagging - transferring high res audio and plugin processing using the interface's DSP. Nice build quality - it feels substantial. It feels like a quality cable. Summary: this cable has performed for me, and is worth your hard earned dollars.
