Conrad is an Int Med Review God
Combine Conrad's genius and manic entertaining teaching style with Kaplan's reputation for high performance in standarized testing preparation and you've got a powerful win-win learning experience. The price per question cost advantage in this affordable item cannot be matched by any of the other authors. Clearly a no-brainer if you do the math to add this to your cert or recert library. I did combine this book with the purchase of his concentrated video case studies on the Kaplan site, and I could hear his voice coaching me straight through the questions on my recert exam! My only complaint is the glue type binding of my copy was weak and easily separated (you have to do a lot of flipping to the back of the book for the answers and explanations). Admittedly, it got a lot of use, but the binding broke down almost immediately and I had to tape it up quite a bit to get the book to stay together.

Its Good, needs organization
My rating really, would be 3.5 stars for the book, 5 stars for Dr Fischer - he is a great teacher. My only gripe with this book as its (intentionally, they say) random with the question content, it seems so disorganized. I don't really need to simulate the randomness of the boards when I am studying. In fact, I think disorganization is a detriment to studying.I would rather have sections: Cards, Pulm, GI etc in order.I also have a companion Kaplan/ Dr Fischer (new as of 5/2011) IM review book that is organized. However, that book has NO questions (& that is NOT in the advertising blurb they give you - shame). The series seems disorganized & can't make up its mind on what it wants to be, but I have a feeling its Kaplan's editors not Dr Fischer.
