Simple yet effective
I’ve just finished the book and I absolutely loved it!!! The Field model is so simple yet effective and can be applied in all situations!!! Having been on maternity leave and about to start a new job, it was the perfect book to get me back into the world of comms and I can’t wait to put it into practise!

Concise yet full of helpful material
I found this both concise and easy to read but also found it covered a lot of content. I liked the focus on solving business problems and the book showed how communication is central to this. The guide to addressing issues within the organisation using the author’s framework was explained well. While the books makes clear that there are no ‘one size fits all’ solutions to individual organisations’ problems, I appreciated the broad themes the book brings out as being common challenges organisations face (such as high rates of staff turnover, high absence rates or teams not working well together) and how the book gave starting points to how these issues could be addressed.

Essential reading for strategic internal communication
It’s rare to find such a comprehensive and complete look at internal communications. It is a important resource, especially for the times we’re in and based on the challenges organisations are facing. Jenni has captured all of this and designed a practical model and approach to tackle some of the hardest organisational issues. It works for the practitioner wanting to look at internal communications in a more strategic way, and for leaders who require clarity and a way forward to improve their business and connect effectively with their people.Well done to Jenni, I love this book and can’t recommend it enough.

Powerful insights - Highly Recommended
Using Jennis methodology we built better relationships with our current customers and saw a substancial increase in our sales as we communicated our message/culture better. I was lucky to work face to face with Jenni and she had a huge impact on my business and in the way we work. I naturally have been excited to read the book and have not been disapointed. It is very well researched and has clear instructions on how to diagnose, and importantly fix challenges you face within your business. If you want to create more calm and consistency in your business I highly recommend this book.

An essential
This book is essential for anyone who wants to learn how to navigate the internal communication world in the most efficient way! Internal communication is a topic that is poorly researched, however, it is essential to run a business. I am currently writing a dissertation on this topic and this book helped me better understand the structure and importance of internal comms and gave me a lot of inspiration for further research. I would recommend this to anyone!

A useful guide for business leaders and internal communications professionals
Thank you to the author, publishers Kogan Page and NetGalley UK for the chance to read an advance reader copy e-book. This is an honest and voluntary review.Organisations rise and fall by the people who work there and the people who run them. Good communication is an essential part of retaining good staff and ensuring everyone knows the value and purpose of what they are doing.Influential Internal Communication explores some of the barriers there may be to good internal communication in your organisation. It highlights the warning signs of different types of problems, and suggests approaches to fixing them. Author Jenni Field offers her insight into the common problems which cause chaos in an organisation, and the tools you can use to get to the bottom of the chaos and bring calm. This isn't an overnight fix, but the book acknowledges this. One of the really useful features are the tables in the later chapters which break down the causes of chaos and the fixes, but also provides an indicative timescale for moving to calm. I can see these tables being a really useful way to refer back to the learning within the book and refresh your memory on the best tools to use in a given situation. This guide to diagnosing the causes of chaos in an organisation and bringing calm through internal communication is written to appeal to both communications professionals and leaders with no specific communications experience. This does mean that at times the level of information may feel too detailed or not specific enough depending on the individual reader's perspective, so that is worth bearing in mind. The introductory chapters looking at what internal communications is, and what it can be, would make useful reading for anyone in a leadership position in their company. Internal communication is about far more than telling people stuff, and Influential Internal Communication explains the importance of internal communications well. The process to diagnose and fix issues described in here are all within the frame of the Field Model, Jenni's approach to tackling internal communications problems in any organisation. While this could be followed by any leader, I think the detailed breakdown of how this works will be of most value to communications professionals who need support to highlight issues within their organisation. This model provides a good way to gather the evidence you may need to persuade senior leaders that there is an issue to be tackled.Overall I think this is a really useful addition to the internal communications literature. Both practical and insightful, I'd recommend it.

Hits the nail on the head
I absolutely adored this book. Jenni hits the nail on the head with her practical guidance and commentary of internal communications from the outset. This is not only a book for communications professionals but all leaders in an organisation, large and small.Influencing Internal Communication appeals to a wide range of communications people at every stage of their career, from newcomers that can get a true understanding and set them in good stead, to those in a developed role/career to use as a reference point, refresh learnings or pick up new tips and tools to add to their armour. The theory is in there, but it’s not overpowering. Examples are shared of real-life experiences she’s had working in the profession for nearly 20 years. Many communications professionals are sole operators, from producing the strategy to executing, and Jenni gives solid guidance by sharing the structure of her Field Model. It indicates the three clear stages to find the root cause of chaos, through to understanding a true diagnosis and fixing. This is a book that is always going to be by my side.
