Excellent Reel
Went fishing this morning, used for the first time. Good price, smooth cast. We will see how it holds up. Not fond of the cork handles but will get used to. Highly recommend. Mounted on one of my Brley Lightning rods yesterday. Good looking set-up. Used to fish a swim bait today. I like it!!

It's a budget reel, but not junk! (and good support, which I needed)
Let me begin with I am an avid fisherman living on the Gulf Coast. I mostly fish inshore from a boat for trout and redfish, and the like. Been fishing all my life, and keep our boat in a lift on the water. I got 40+ years of experience, some of it good. All that said, I never spend much for gear because it rots down here. If I can't catch fish for under $100, it just isn't fun. Well lately everything has gotten super expensive. To top it off, my favorite LEW baitcaster started acting up. I took it apart and got it sorted some, but it will never be 100%. So now it's a back-up.I go shopping at the regular places and these things are now $150-$250!! I'm not doing that just so it can rot away on the coast. So I start shopping (exactly like you are doing right now), and reading reviews. I usually read a bunch of reviews first, and then buy something. This reel had some good reviews, and I figured it was worth a try. I bought the reel, some chinese 20lb braid, and went to the local store and picked up an All Star rod on sale. The reel and braid arrived. I spooled it, and went fishing. It worked FANTASTIC... for about an hour or two. After it while, it slowly started to bind up on the string guide. I lubed it a bit, and kept fishing. When I came home, I noticed the cap on the string guide had fallen apart.CALL FOR HELP. I contacted the sellers via messages. I told them this part broke and I needed one. They said it would take 1-2 weeks. In about 10 days I got the part (2 actually :)). Today I took the reel completely apart. It seems very well built, but just VERY underlubed. It was very dry inside with a tiny amount of grease in it. I cleaned it all up, and lubed it all over with some Garcia lube. I put the new parts on and went for a few casts. (it's 80 degrees on 12/10, go figure) This thing is so light and reels so easy now. It's better than new!Moral: If you are willing to save a few bucks and pull this reel apart to clean and lube it, I think it's worth the money. If you want to plug and play, it would be a gamble for you. I think it's a great reel, but I will have to run it a whole season before I know. I believe the reason this reel is cheap is because they save on the labor on assembly. The materials seem as good as my LEWs, and much lighter. Fit and finish is good. Remember, all those reels at the store are made in China now. Check them! I did. They will say they have better quality, but do they really? Now I doubt that anyone is going to put Sougayilang stickers on their F250, or their bass boat, but you have to ask yourself... why not?

Short cast distance. Tangle resistant.
I cannot get the spool tensioner to tune baits over 1/4 oz. It maxes out. I used it regardless with 3/8 oz spinners. It still worked. The casting distance is about 2/3 of my other one, but it seems to be quite resistant to tangling. It makes noise while reeling, and the action is not as smooth as my other one. Regardless, it is a good price and it works. Perfect for younger anglers. Veteran anglers will want something that can cast further
