This altenator beats the original with a strong steady output and fit my 1992 Chevy c1500 4.3 motor perfect.Highly recommend over other brands.Can’t speak for longevity yet since only been a month.

The first alternator that I ordered came through with a loose battery stud in the back--a fact I discovered only AFTER it was fully bolted to the engine. (It cannot be tightened without opening the alternator case to gain access to the nut.)D'oh! A quick call to Bosch's warranty department confirmed that I should obtain a replacement through Amazon, which I did. The second one was fine, but I am still a little nervous about torquing the stud nut too much. Don't get carried away, and you should be fine.This all-new unit runs quietly and charges well so far. It has a lifetime warranty for non-commercial use along with an interesting offer of 24-month roadside assistance should your vehicle be disabled by an alternator failure.I see no need to take a chance on a rebuilt of questionable quality and origin when you can buy all new from a major automotive parts manufacturer. Mine was made right here in the US, and the man I spoke to at Bosch obviously was very proud of their quality and reputation and bent over backwards to ensure that I received a perfect unit. He even sent me a claim form (by email and regular mail) to use directly with Bosch in case Amazon did not honor the return. I really like their attitude and will look to Bosch for other parts needs as a result. Along with Denso, Bosch makes many of the electrical parts for the OEMs, and you probably will not go wrong with any of their products.

QC at Bosch is not too good. I installed this alternator per the directions, battery unhooked. As soon as it was installed on the first run it was whining so loud you could hear it echoing off of the walls. Almost drove me out of the cab. I returned it and bought one from AutoZone locally. That one is perfectly silent. Disappointing to say the least.

Original review July 2013:I bought this and installed it myself in September 2012. It is still working flawlessly! A friend turned me on to Bosch automotive components and this has been a great buy for me.Additional info April 2014:No changes, it is still working great! No problems whatsoever, voltage readings are very strong. I use this on a vehicle with a spare full sized battery (charged via relay) and it doesn't miss a beat.

This alternator works fine, but it has a really loud whine. I've had lots of alternators in this vehicle over the years and none have been this noisy.

Very good amps coming off this alternator. Only complaint is there is a slight whine noise from it.

Clothes it fast. Brand new. Fit my 91 k1500 perfectly. Good power output. Better than the reman one I bought from oreileys 2yrs ago for more money.
