Love the shun kanso set. Great quality knife, very sharp, and looks amazing. Bought the 7" utility knife to start my shun collection and that knife was so amazing I bought this set to go with it. The block is great and all the knives that come with it are sharp very sharp out the box. Can't wait to fill the block fully

so sharp, very cool, glad i got these, nice block for display, unusual shape and look. extra slots for scissors and knife. love these knives. never had a sharper tool in the kitchen, makes cooking more fun.

I searched all over the place for a knife set for my wife for Christmas. spent months. I loved the look of the block the knives went in ... the Japanese steel as well,is supposed to be some of the best ... we haven't had them a year and the steel on three of the knives is rusting terribly. Each of these knives have these awful rust marks on the steel! My wife and I feel completely duped, not to mention we wasted some $600 plus dollars. As a Children's pastor trying to bless his wife....I should have gone a different direction. Pretty bummed.

Love these so far. Only used them for a month, but the blades are still sharp. Only time will tell

A good choice of knives that just fit my needs. Sharp as can be. Recommended.

i own quite many Shun knives. This set is aesthetically pleasing and i was attracted to this very minimal design on the web. But the design, after some use, shows its defects. the wooden handle looks dull after some use. so i strongly recommend this for home use, not for professional use. the 5-inch santoku, the utility knife and the pairing knife are good to use. This 5-inch santoku is good for all easy tasks like cutting green onions, fruits or perhaps slicing of meat, no pressure to your hand at all, esp. for a woman. but the chef's knife is not. The chef knife feels a bit too thin and too pointed, the tip is a bit too "stretched" out - hope you know what i mean, please look into the photo more carefully for the shape of this chef knife and see if you would like it. The kind of steel used in this line is not as sharp and strong as the classic line of Shun. I think this line is good to have if you like a look to go with a minimalist deisgn kitchen, a zen ambiance so to speak, and that you don't use them for heavy duties.

The handle of the sharpening "steel" appears to be ironwood, but the handles of the knives are Wenge wood. And, the handles of the knives are rough and apparently unfinished. I had to treat the knife handles with food grade mineral oil and sand them to be smoother.

Arrived on time.Zero damage to any packaging.Pretty much what you would expect from Shun knives.

Looks fantastic but yet to try on a big cooking job

We have had the Shun Canso knives about three weeks. I have not used all knives yet... the three I have used are very sharp and easy to use. They are quite attractive in appearance. So far, I really like the Canso knive set.
