Quite possibly the best cover guy in the game, the Athletic sock line's quarter is on your every move. The mesh panels on top of the foot give it an incredibly light, airy feel, but the cushion underneath is down to bump and run. Wrapping the foot, our performance zone is knit like a second skin of Merino Wool for moisture-wicking, no-slip greatness that never gets burned.

Excellent. Comfortable and breathe very well in warm shoes.
I have a thick, size 12 foot with a 4EE width, so it's big. The XL in the DT Element fit well.I have several DT socks, I mean they are really good. This model is one of my favorites to hike in with running shoes. The sock breathes at the top, has some cushioning and after maybe a dozen uses, seems to be holding up.They are one of the more comfortable socks I have. And I have too many, including Asics, Balega, Feetures, Nike, to name a few. I always pay attention to how they feel, perform and how my feet feel after hiking several Km. These are one of the best in my rotation.Recommended.

Good but....
It fits great, it is comfortable... there are 2 reasons that took off 2 stars.. 1) it’s pulling in the back and creating little fluffs. Not sure if that’s how the sock is supposed to be? Or if it’s defective??? And 2) the price. It’s pricy especially for something that seems to have already gone defective

Awesome socks, Made in USA, lifetime guarantee - love these sock!
These Darn Tough Men's Element 1/4 Sock Light Cushion socks are fantastic. Made in the USA with a lifetime guarantee, can't find better durability and quality than that. The 1/4 sock just covers my ankles, and the Light Cushion is a comfy, medium amount of padding. For me, that is light enough that I can use them for anything--running, biking, tennis, etc. But mostly I like these for the Merino wool, which makes a big difference for me, the softest, snuggiest feel and it breathes differently than any other material I have found. My feet can get hot and sweaty but the Merino wool wicks that away so I can go all day and not feel clammy (and not to get too gross, but that actually helps me keep clean and fresh between the toes, who wants stinky feet?). This height is great for wearing around the house while I'm teleworking, and is a good height for summer activities. The company is in Vermont, giving people good jobs with decent pay, lifetime guarantee (who ever had that for a sock before?), and the quality is outstanding. I bought two other types of Darn Toughs a few years ago, which I wear daily for work, and they have held up so well and are still so comfortable that I don't think i will ever buy a different brand of sock again. I know, they're just socks, but the extra cost up front pays for itself in longevity, as well as in my daily comfort and happiness with the quality of the socks and the integrity of the company. Those things are hard to find, so I like to pay a little more to support that kind of quality in products and behavior in companies. 5 stars in every category for me!

Smaller than advertised
First, the sizing chart indicates men's size 10-12 should get a large. That's way too small/tight. Definitely size-up and get the XL. Second, maybe it's because they're built tough, I don't know, but these are scratchier and more abrasive than typical wool socks. That's not a deal-breaker for me but it's something to be aware of.
