A lovely read, couldn’t put it down.

A beautiful historical romance set in Italy during WW2, a young Jewish woman must pose as a Christian farmers wife to survive the Holocaust. The simple, hardworking life of a family that loves each other and how they were changed by war unfolds. Family given and family lost. Surviving the worst of humanity and then finding humanity. A story of love, courage, heroism, and survival. A truly enjoyable read!

4 - 4 1/2 star read. I love Robson's books and this is no exception. She tells a lovely and compelling story of a young Jewish girl in Venice during the time of the Nazi occupation. To save her life, she is sent to the country to pose as the wife of a young Christian farmer. But the war comes to them and this is their story. I loved the characters and their story and it all rang true. The courage of the people who helped save Jews during wartime is heroic and this book is based on some true stories from this time. Another excellent read.

Easy reading at its best, a well considered book. I was a little disappointed as I felt the end was rushed but all in all I would recommend this book.
