I was looking for a fish scaler as I was tired of scaling fish using a knife as I sometimes found my fingers would cramp. I didn’t want a plastic one and I don’t mind fish scales flying all over the place, but at least I could scale fish frozen or defrosted. It made short work of descaling and did an excellent job with both slightly frozen and defrosted fish. The scales didn’t fly everywhere and it was as easy to clean afterwards as washing a knife.

Bought for a friend. The reports back is that it is good to use for big fish. May not be dainty enough for some people to use

An efficient de-scaler that creates little mess from scattering.The only problem I've encountered is not with the utensil, but with fish fillets that nowadays for some reason the supermarkets increasingly cut what I regard as one portion in half. This makes it fiddly to remove the scales as there is little to get hold of, especially as you need to use a scale remover "against the grain" of the scales which in the case of salmon fillets, means working across the short length.Supermarkets - STOP IT!! It's a matter of seconds to cut the fillet in half if I really want to, so why do you insist on wasting your time bisecting it?

Used it once for a whole sea bass. Didn't expect that it is that easy to scale the fish.
