Nice product upgrades!
Updated dated from an older Core lantern that was 800 Lumen with batteries.Latest version is 1,000 Lumen and super bright. Big plus is no more external batteries, it has a Lithium USB rechargeable instead. Buy with confidence!

A very wide range of output, bright, dimmer vs preset output settings, good battery capacity and run time.
Just a quickie. The one thing I didn't like was an almost burning smell right out of the box. Could have been the packaging or from the manufacturing process but it's performed flawlessly so far. Yes, the color is a little on the blue side (6000k?) but I believe the slightly blue LEDs are a little more efficient than the more warmer LEDs.I needed a lantern that was rechargeable Li Ion, LED, with good output and good runtime. There are a few lanterns that meet this criteria but the determining factor was the range of adjustment.... This lantern will go from 12 lumens to 1,000 lumens and everything in between. The range from it's highest to it's lowest output is huge, the widest range I could find.It uses a dimmer vs having a few different output modes/settings so I can set it for just the right amount of light. It has enough battery capacity (5,200 mah) to run for over 6 hours at 1,000 lumens and over 250 hours at 12 lumens. Once it's dark and your eyes have adjusted, 12 lumens is more than enough to light up a room or a tent to see what you're doing. In fact, I wish it went even lower for longer battery life. 12 lumens is a little bright for a night light and more output than many realize. I only wish I knew what size batteries it uses and if they're replaceable without tearing it apart so I could buy a couple spares (probably a pair of 18650s based on output) but I have nearly every product Anker makes so I have the battery thing almost handled.Again, I don't see the dimmer mentioned and I think this is a great feature along with the range of output.

Perfect for general camping.
Took this camping right after purchasing it. Dark woods of a (WI) group campsite, with only 2 people and a whole lot of nothing else around. We had the campfire going but used this for doing other tasks,....more convenient then a fueled lantern. (tip it sideways, bump it, move it, put the light on what you want it on, ..........take it to the bathrooms?....etc)We had this thing running on the low setting all night ~20 feet from the tent to ward of critters and it was still on in the morning. Should last longer based on the specs, but we didn't stay long enough for that. We used it for maybe ~2 on the high setting, ...which lights up a ~50 ft area and it didn't take long to recharge when we got home. This thing is bright! It's kind of blinding if you look directly at it but so is the sun. Overall it's a great camp lantern as it lasted and took minimal input to maintain. Fairly cheap, lightweight and maintenance free. Plugging in a USB cord to charge it, is not maintenance. Not as yellow as a fire or fueled lantern but its light, no maintenance, and great at what it does.

The Best
I have tried the Bell & Howell light bars with 60 LEDs, and the RayOVac lantern with fluorescent tubes, and this little thing puts out more light than those. It actually lights up a room nicely. Easy to use and charge. I am thrilled to have an emergency lantern that actually puts out light. Good price, too. It is NOT too bright to look at, and I am light sensitive. Love it. Will order more, definitely.

Almost the perfect rechargeable lantern, just needs two minor changes.
Awesome rechargeable lantern, probably the brightest one available right now that you don't need to keep buying batteries for. Although I wish It had two USB ports for charging phones, one is what was advertised and it works just fine.Pros:Lantern is very bright, lightweight & the simple ON or hold to Dim/night-light function is perfect for people who don't want the SOS flashing or RED modes some other lanterns have and I have no reason to need. It seems to last a very long time after charging and has a neat spot underneath for storing the included usb cable (also just enough room for a USB-to-Wall adapter too).Cons:(1) I have no idea why the hanger has an inverted hook in the center for hanging. Its the little notch that is pushed out of the hanger so it can evenly hang from a nail/post/hook or rope, etc. Instead of it being pushed up to neatly hang on something, its pushed downwards which means anything you are hanging it on will kick the lamp to one side on an angle. Its a very odd design choice and I think it was made to aesthetically wrap around the on/off button when its closed....They should have made the hanger an inch shorter and flipped the hook around so it doesn't interfere with the button location when closed if that was the reasoning for the backwards design.(2) The led color choice they went with is way too pure white and is almost like a 6000K faint blue color. For a camping lantern, it would have been a better choice if they went with a warm white which is more around 3000K or 4000K etc... similar tint to a propane lantern used in cabins or when out camping.Final Verdict: 4/5. This would be a perfect 5/5 if they fixed the lanterns hanger design and the tint of the led bulbs to a warmer shade.
