Liebert GXT4 UPS 1000VA 900W 120V, Online Double Conversion Rack Mount/Tower UPS, Uninterruptible Power Supply, Sine Wave, AVR, Battery Backup with Surge Protection(GXT4-1000RT120)

This Liebert is an Industrial type UPS with full AC at all times (Not a switch when failure occurs). It has true sine wave output.I'm running this to power my home office that has two computers, multiple monitors etc. Although the Lieberts cost more than APC units and weight much more, It is now my standard for UPS units. The picture shows the UPS and an Aux Battery Pack but it comes as a single unit with the batteries internal. The unit is rated a 630 watts and I am currently running at the 400 Watt level.The unit comes with the feet for vertical mounting but I am using it in a 19 inch rack configuration. The amazing part is that the mounting ears actually support this 40 pound unit without sagging at the back. It also comes with sliding rails.I acquired an auxiliary battery pack and the shipping weight was 74 pounds. The batteries on the aux pack are 9 amp hour whereas the main unit batteries are 7.5 amp hour. The battery configuration is at the 48 VDC level.Liebert is manufactured by Emerson Electric. I I learned about Liebert from a bank IT person.

Enterprise gear

I've never used a Liebert UPS system before now. I've had the system for about 4 weeks now and so far so good. The system has kept the power clean thru power failure and input irregularities. In testing for input failures the load transitioned quickly to the battery and waited until the utility power was stable before transitioning back. The user interface on the unit is great b/c of it's simplicity; it's easy to access features and system status with the traditional text based menus. Also, the power button is configured so that the unit cannot be turned off by accident, like some other brands.The system has 6 5-15 and 1 l5-30 twist-lock output sockets. Keep in mind that the input is a L5-30 twist lock and will not work with a traditional 5-15 or 5-20 outlet. The estimated run time appears to be roughly accurate, though I've not run the battery all the way down.Bottom line is that, in my experience, it is every bit as good as the APC alternatives.

The power coming out of this is great. The noise level is exactly what I would expect for a double conversion ups. The unit I received has a ground fault (wiring problem) which I will eventually get around to fixing, but I should not have to. You and I both know I am not dealing with shipping poor quality back and forth. I worked around the ground fault by bypassing the units ground to the equipment distribution.

This thing is LOUD. So much so that it's unacceptable for home use.

Great choice for when you need clean uninterruptible power. The unit comes with both rails for rack mounting and a feet for vertical installs. I use this unit at home to backup personal servers and enjoy the fact it can sit upright in my office and not look awkward.The machines I have connected are very susceptible to "dirty" power and this backup has proven to provide good consistent steady stream of AC.Cons: Unit is a bit heavy. But it comes with disposable straps for easy unboxing.

This UPS is a best in class product, that provides 100% power conditioning at a great price. After reviewing the full technical specifications against other types of UPS, the true online double conversion technology is a must have for my connected equipment, especially the mission critical items that run the applications that drive my business.

Excellent UPS, lots of features and long run time even with heavy load. I was expecting the fan to be pretty loud, but it is roughly the same db as the servers connected to it and is not noticeable in the data closet. The display is easy to read and can be rotated so you aren't looking at it sideways in a tower configuration, which helped when initially setting it up and testing. Very happy with it!
