A page turner
I really enjoyed reading this series. Its an easy read, kept me entertained and I enjoyed the characters. I'm looking forward the next book.I've read a lot of Grisham's books. I like his writing style and development of the characters. Some of his endings however, in the past, have been a bit of a let down. So far these last 2 Camino books have been excellent. Thanks for all your hard work Mr. Grisham

A story for the summer
This was a typical Gresham read, east to follow with lots of interesting characters and an entertaining story that didn't require In-depth analysis. A fun mystery.

No loose ends!
Author quickly ends the story and leaves no loose ends. Pleasant summer read! Nothing is complicated too much

Hurricane Death Mystery
The main character Bruce, assembles friends for a dinner party days before a major hurricane hits Camino Island. Bruce is a long time book seller and mentor to aspiring and established authors. Bruce and his friends hunker down separately as the hurricane approaches. (As an aside, I have stayed in my home during major hurricane(s) and would not advise it. However, John Grisham’s description of riding out a hurricane and the chaotic aftermath is spot on.). After the hurricane has passed, he ventures out to check n the damage to his home and bookstore as well as making his way to check on his friends. Bruce finds Nelson dead on his patio with clear head trauma and fallen limbs nearby. He soon realizes that the injuries are too many to have been caused by a fallen limb and expects the police, investigator and coroner to determine what actually happened to Nelson. Need less to say, all first responders are very busy with the hurricane aftermath to quickly investigate the death. Soon Bruce, Nick and Bob try to figure out what happened to Nelson. Was it murder? Why? Nelson has a controversial past and writes about touchy government subjects. Is the current manuscript a clue? Where is it? As the group hires an investigating agency, they soon realize that Nelson may have been writing a book based on an “informer” regarding Medicare and Medicaid fraud in nursing homes. To avoid spoilers, I will leave it there but while it is a good story, I kept imagining and anticipating surprise twists and turns that never materialized. Plot development and storyline good but it left me wanting more.

Loved this book
Arrived in great condition. I read the first book and didn't even realize there were two more. Immediately purchased this one and read it right away. I love the characters and storyline. It's an easy read, but keeps you entertained. I'm about to start on the third one soon. I'd highly recommend this series.

Grisham Meets Agatha Christie
When I read a summary of the plot, it sounded like something Dame Agatha Christie might have written: amateur sleuth outfoxes the professionals and solves the crime. We met the characters in an earlier book. The setting - an island in Florida - was a fun escape during this pandemic. The plot was pretty fresh and entertaining. One of the writers on the island dies of unnatural causes during a hurricane. The local cops are incompetent and busy with the destruction after a hurricane, so mystery authors work to uncover who done it.That part was like Christie. As the story unfolded, Grisham's storytelling style dominated. Amateur sleuths unearth that the motive for the killing is complex and involves trips off the island and a tangled web.At times the plot seemed a tad choppy - but the action moved fast and I was grateful for that. If you like Grisham, I think you'll enjoy this diversion. Grisham offers some thoughts on being a writer throughout the story. It's obvious that Grisham thinks that one has to be willing to work hard to be a best-selling author. I enjoyed his insights on that.

a good read!
Things have the habit of reving up on Camino Island and that includes hurricanes and death. Bruce’s life at the Bay Book store is anything but dull as he gets involved trying to solve his friends murder.

A great and lusty tale
A great read, the 2nd in the Camino trilogy. It starts a little slow but builds momentum with some interesting twists and a solid ending.

smooth transition from legal to crime
Grisham’s transition from legal to crime thriller is very smooth. As usual the writing is fun and plot is gripping - single sitter like most of his books
