Fun and colorful, but not deep enough for complete mastery.
In preparation for next school year, I’m tackling teaching my rising third grader multiplication. My son struggled with the pace at which it was taught in third grade. We are considering homeschooling next year also, and the curriculum we’d use taught multiplication basics in second grade...so we are getting a jump on things for either scenario. With that said, we’ve really enjoyed this workbook. The colors and illustrations make it fun, and the teaching is solid. I like that the workbook begins with explanations of what multiplication is, how it relates to addition and what it looks like visually. My only reason for not giving this book five stars is the lack of practice with each number. Once you get past the initial introduction to multiplication, there is basically one page devoted to multiplying by each number. There are a few more pages of practice with several number groups, but there is only one page devoted to each factor. That’s not quite enough to master the multiplication skills.I knew when I bought this that it was only 32 pages and wouldn’t be enough for mastery, so I bought another workbook for extra practice, and we are practicing with flash cards, too.

Love School Zone!,
I truly think the School Zone workbooks are quality. I like the examples they give at the top of each page, and simple to follow directions make for a better independent work situation for my homeschooled 8 year old. A lot of workbooks are all over the place, with little to no direction , let alone an example for more visual learners.

Meh.......Its Okay.
I bought this book to help my 3rd grader with his multiplication. I was looking for a beginners level workout that would help break down multiplication with arrays and addition problem. I’m disappointed because the book only goes to 10 (multiples of 10) but only multiples by 9 (which is weird and I hate). I’m also disappointed that there are only a couple of pages that show multiplication in other ways (addition and arrays). I do like there is skip counting, and the book (in order) has each number in its own section (1-10)

Must have
So anyone who gives this a negative review is insane. Got this for my third grader who was struggling with multiplication- this book breaks it down and makes it simple.

Great introduction to multiplication
Just what I was looking for. A step-by-step introduction to multiplication, with fact practice. Since my son was ready for multiplication before they were introducing it at school, I wanted him to understand how it works (not just memorize the facts). It's a short book, but very effective.
