I orderd these before and loved them. these notebooks are not the same. The page design has changed and I am very dissappointed. #1 the pictures shown are not accurate. #2 the notebook is not as nice as the old one. #3 it now includes black inspirational pages. While I appreciate the need to evolve the marketing needs to keep up with the changes.

I bought this black n' red casebound notebook (E66857) almost a year ago for just under $3. I ordered it for my husband thinking it'd make a nice notebook for work but he refused to 'waste' it because it's too nice...I've since inherited it (quite happily) and use it to jot down notes from important calls. I used to write things on post-its or random papers before getting more organized with a single notebook (and electronic notes).This product is made in Poland. It is the nicest notebook I've owned; I can't attest to owning any expensive ones. I have been provided with some nice notebooks from management jobs but this has the best paper stock of those I've owned.The paper is sewn in so this isn't good for tearing pages out of but it is great for a book of information you want to keep together. It also has a red ribbon page divider making it easy to keep your place.The cover is also quite sturdy and solid. They include a date planner to highlight appointments, I use it as a perpetual calendar for birthdays (I've grayed out our family birthdays in the photo I posted). You could use it as a tiny planner but I keep a separate planner because I don't carry this. It's not light enough for me to want to carry it daily (nor do I need to).There are also maps and travel information I don't really use but are nice. I've LOVED these notebooks forever but I totally do not like the new version, enough that I am returning this one. If I wanted an inspirational journal I would buy an inspirational journal. And those wingdings in all four corners of EVERY page? Superfluous and ridiculous if you don't want to do the whole SCRIBZEE/Evernote thing. The paper itself feels different to me but I could be making that up. It's not Amazon's fault so I suppose the folks to complain to are the makers of the notebook.

Great notebook/pad to use as a task list. I use it at work to keep track of items I need to complete. The separate column at the left side of each page provides a dedicated place to add a check mark, X, or date when tasks are complete. The rest of the line is sufficiently sized for a short description of the work to be done. The cover on the notebook feels somewhere between a faux-leather and a rubberized coating. it's not waterproof, but it's grippy enough to not slip out of your hands. The elastic band comes in hand for keeping it closed. The paper itself is a heavier weight and coated, which is what I've come to expect of the Black n' Red brand. Their paper is fantastic for fountain pen users. Very seldom do inks feather or show through. They often show off more shading and sheen too! The only negative for fountain pens is that being a coated paper the inks do take an extra 5-10 seconds to dry such that they don' smear.

I love notebooks and fountain pens, and not all notebooks are well suited to fountain pen use... the wrong paper will make the ink feather and bleed through, and the colors will suffer.These Black n Red books are wonderful with all of my fountain pen inks; no bleed through or feathering (with normal writing), and the paper feels nice and smooth. Covers are quite sturdy, and they feel like they'll hold up to whatever I throw at them.That said, the "inspirational quotes" on the inside cover are cheesy, trite, and annoying. I hope they remove them in the future.

I ordered a number of these notebooks for my classes this semester after originally buying only one. The page quality is good, HOWEVER, I found myself greatly DISAPPOINTED when I opened my latest order. I ordered one single notebook and 25% of the pages were not attached to the spiral binding of the notebook. I thought I could try to bind it myself, since I need it now and don't have the time to return/wait for a new one to ship to me, which proved itself to be much more difficult than I had anticipated.The first and third image is of the single, poorly made notebook I received. The left hand side is the correctly binded pages and on the right are the ones that are not, plus the pages I tried to bind myself.The second image I posted consists of the well-constructed product on top, and the sad one I had recently received on the bottom (peep the spiral binding).Overall, I usually find this to be a good product of nice quality, and in the past would have rated it 5 stars. Since I was quite unpleasantly surprised this time, I rated this item 2 stars. Hopefully the company does something to FIX this simple construction issue and improve the execution of their products, so that other people don't have to deal with the same problem.

I like these notebooks for daily notes, to do lists, and the like, as they work better than most others that I've tried for use with fountain pens. They compare reasonably with Rhodia, and when you can pick them up for less than $5 they're a much better deal.There is no appreciable feathering, no bleed through with even the wettest inks and nibs that I have. Permanent markers will bleed, but I only know that because I sought to find out, I normally don't write notes in marker.The poly cover and the rings are study, they'll certainly outlive the notebook... actually I would rather they were cheaper and biodegradable... since they're going to be trash in a couple of months.... Maybe I'll come up with a clever way to repurpose them before it's time for the trash.A better option for me is  Black n' Red Twin Wire Hardcover Notebook, 8-1/4 x 5-7/8, Black/Red, 70 Ruled Sheets (L67000)  as I prefer the hard cover over the poly cover. I'm grabbing another one of those if I see the price drop below $8 or $9 per book.

I'ts good value for money, but I thought it would have been slightly thicker.
