How To Restore Tractor Magnetos

This book was written with good theory/practical teaching! I learned a lot. The book helped with my work trying to get antique tractors running that have been sitting for at least 10 years.

Great book that cover a multitude of specific magnetos from different brands. Great book to have on the shelf for reference.

Bought it for my husband and he reads it almost every night. Easy to find information and the descriptions are easy to understand.

A wealth of information for testing and repair of various Tractor Magnetos. This information also appies to small engine magnetos by the same manufactures. Tools required for each procedure are described and where to purchase them is avaliable. This is a "must have" for anyone who collects old equipment.

Albeit I haven't read it all through yet, the descriptions of the magnetos consist of a old photo of an old magneto (somewhat grainy) totally put together with worded text of what's underneath. It is impossible to comprehend what's inside the unit and how its placed do its job. He does explain the basics of coil /breaker point s ignition system and speculates what does go wrong with them. He also talks about electrical testing equipment you might want to use but doesn't so far go into how to actually test the items. He also talks about disassembly of a old unit without ruining it - these units are used on collectable tractors and other old engines - its best to keep things as original as possible. This may have been his inspiration to write the book - I was looking more for exploded diagrams with parts references and placements. However its still interesting.

My father in law restores old tractors and he said that this book since Christmas 2012 has already saved him buying a new magneto. He has thanked me three times for it so I would have to say that it is a good .

A real world book. The author had spent his whole working life repairing mags and imparts the information in an easy to understand way.

Lot of kerfuffle about tools needed and only certain magnetos are covered, but it does have some useful information
