Q: Do magnets stick to the paper?

No, it looks metallic, but it is contact paper. I tried a magnet and it didn’t stick. Sorry!

Q: Good for counter tops? Need something thicker and kore durable than the contact paper on there I have now until I can have my counters done.

It would work better than contact paper but this would not be a long term solution

Definitely apply to a dry surface. This is a very sticky product similar to contact paper. It is metallic looking but is not metal. Apply carefully as it will show marks or creases if the backing is not pulled off straight or if the product gets folded or wrinkled while handling. As for preparing the surface, be sure it is grease free and dry. I’d use a degreaser and maybe as a last step wipe the area with alcohol. Good luck!
