Hot clean burn
This is great charcoal, but it burns hot and fairly fastFor what I use it for it's perfectThe pieces are very big, again just what I needIt's a very clean burn so no taint to food

Nice flavour
Good quality charcole and very easy to light. Used it on an open bbq and doesn't last ages. Enough to cook the food but not continuous bbq-ing. You can add more charcole while cooking without having to worry about bad taste and smoke, which is good. Great flavour on food and good for a tea time bbq without having to wait age. Can start cooking after ten minutes even if all coals aren't alight.

not the best
Bought this for my kamado style barbeque and more for low and slow cooking, but this charcoal is not the best for it, because it's very light and burns very quickly, so if you looking charcoal for it, then I'd recommend buying something else. I filled the basket full and it was gone after 5 hours. Disappointed

Great on the Kamado Joe
I had to write this because there are a few negative reviews mainly saying the charcoal does not last long. Maybe it doesn't on an open bbq, I have not tried that yet. However, on my Kamado Joe, cooking at 250f a full basket of this coal cooked a 5 hour belly pork with ease, that was two days ago. Today I'm doing a 6 hour rib rack, I've gone to set up the oven and I was surprised to find an awful lot of the coal still unused from the other day.It is quite light compared to other charcoal I use, the bag is massive, definitely more in it than a 20lb bag of Kamado Joe charcoal, nice large chunks too and the flavour is as good as any other.I like it, if you're smoking or long slow cooking try some.Update....the 6 hour ribs were followed by several portions of wings and the coal kept going strong. In all one basket lasted 6 hours at 250f then 4 hours at 375f and there was still a few chunks left in there. With managed air flow this is great charcoal.

Doesn't Last Very Long
Doesn't really 'burn' for very long compared to processed briquettes, so bbq's cool down quicker. You get what you pay for I suppose.

Best
Ive been using Marienburg lump wood for 2 years now,I’ve never had a bad bag , I kept trying to find lump wood for my Kamado’s for years before finding Marienburg, unless they let there standards slip I won’t be changing again.
