Reliefband1.5 for Motion & Morning Sickness - Fast, Drug-Free Relief from Nausea, Retching, Vomiting

I have suffered from sporadic bouts of vertigo (BPP and tinnitus) and general motion sickness all of my life. I cannot read in a moving car or ride in the back seat without being near a window. I rarely boat or even swim due to getting vertigo and dizzy enough to where I physically get sick and when that happens I’m down for hours with nausea and vomiting. For years I have used medications and been to several ENT and gastro doctors and neurologist they advised to use medications or just don’t do anything that triggers it. I had been aware of a similar device (might have been the same thing) but it was way to expensive at the time for just a few occasions.I had been doing well for several years and recently had been having several really episodes. I was looking for something to help me and one day and stumbled upon the Relief Band. I was very skeptical; I have tried to use the pressure point Sea Bands with little to no effect no matter how tight I had them. After reviewing the Relief Band online and in more that just one place, I decided to buy one even though I was skeptical, I had to see if it would work for me. I took a chance. I ordered the item from Amazon with Prime shipping and it was delivered in two days.I immediately opened it up and did a quick overall read of the tiny instruction manual that was included. It really didn’t bother me that it was tiny, I just needed to know how to turn it on, where to place it and how to turn it off. Simple enough it strapped on like a watch. The feel was strange to me, mainly because I do not where anything on my wrists.Even though I wasn’t feeling bad I applied some gel and placed the device according to the directions (between the two tendons under the wrist) and hit the on button. The little led began to flash, I didn’t feel anything, so I hit the button again and the led lit the #2 and I began to feel a light tingling. I hit the button again and whoa! I really began to feel it!! It didn’t hurt but was very uncomfortable at first.Fast forward three days, I woke up in the middle of the night dizzy with nausea. I had this on my nightstand for this very occasion. I quickly applied the gel and strapped it on and went straight to #3 on the dial. I laid in bed as still as possible with the Relief Band pulsing and to my surprise after about 20-30 mins I began to feel better, not great but better. After about an hour I was able to get up and move around. Now this did not “cure” my symptoms completely no matter how high I cranked it, but made the symptoms MUCH more tolerable. Normally it would take hours before I could get up and move around.I have not tried it in a transportation setting, but when I do use this item for that I will update this review.TL:DR it appears to be a viable option for those who do not like using medication, while it did not completely cure or make everything 100% better it did make a notable difference for the better.Pros:- Appears to work as described; helped me within about 20 minutes of a vertigo episode.- No medication; I hate medication of any kind and with medication once you feel sick it's too late- Adjustable strap.- Adjustable power levels.- Replaceable batteries.Cons:- Pricey, but if it works for you this is a no brainer, must buy.- The "Shock" is somewhat uncomfortable, it's similar to those Electrotherapy devices at chiropractic and rehab/massage places.- The strap is somewhat uncomfortable, needs a much wider and softer band to improve comfort and to help it stay in place.- You pretty much have to leave your arm still or in one place to get the full effect, too much movement causes the relief band to not make contact. properly and you have to constantly readjust.I'm happy with my purchase and would recommend it for those that have similar issues.In my opinion, improvement on the band would greatly help with the issues of wearability comfort and placement. When I need it to work I do not care what it looks like.

I know a lot of people don't put much faith in the science behind the relief band, and that's OK. Given that my motion sickness has only increased as I've gotten older, I was looking for a longer-term, easier solution than pills, so I thought I'd give this band a try.First, you should know that this is, in fact, low-level electrocution. The description plays it down, but rest assured - you are electrocuting yourself.Pros:Effectiveness: I tested this on long and short car rides where I would normally get motion sick and didn't feel nauseated at all. There were some situations where my brain was telling me I *should* be nauseated, but I actually wasn't, so took that as a good sign. Also, I pushed it to the limit a bit and tried to read some stuff on my phone and order something online while in the car. This would normally make me want to hurl, but while wearing the band, I did OK. The longer I was looking at my phone, the more I felt like I *wanted* to be motion sick, even though I wasn't, so I didn't push it too much there.Convenience. I could strap on this little band any time I felt I needed it without having to take a pill and wait for it to work - and possibly work longer than needed. For example, for shorter car rides, this little baby helps immensely, so no need for a long-acting pill for short-term use.Fit: I have large wrists (8"+) and there's a little stretchy part of the band that allows this to fit tightly to my wrist. Though given that I've got fat wrists, I probably had to have it set higher than a smaller person would. I used mainly levels 2 and 3 to get the lowest level shock. This also varied on how I held my wrist. I think larger folks are going to have to spend more time getting it settled in the right place with the right level in order to get the most benefit.Cons:Size: It's not exactly a subtle product. The face is about 1"-1.5" in diameter and sticks out from your wrist almost a good half-inch. And since you have to wear it on the underside of your wrist, it can be a bit uncomfortable. And you have to be careful not to accidentally push the button to increase the jolt when you lay down your wrist.Looks: I know, this isn't meant to be a fashion piece, but if you are planning to wear it for a long car trip, flight, or cruise, it would nice if it were a bit smoother looking. It does come across as a giant "MEDICAL DEVICE" at a glance, so it's a bit unappealing. But in the long run, this is really not a deal breaker.Cost: At almost $100, it's a bit steep. If you are like me and will likely use it on a weekly basis (sometimes daily), that cost will pay off in the long run. However, if you are only needing it for one trip every now and then, you'd be better off with the motion sickness pills.Summary:For me, who gets motion sick A LOT, I think this is going to work out well. I've only had it for a few days and it certainly worked, so I'll keep using it and update the review over time for things like battery life and continued effectiveness.

I am super sensitive to getting motion sickness, regardless of the method of travel (unless I'm driving). I decided to try this out since OTC meds knock me out and the acupressure bands don't offer much relief. I also get really bad vertigo, sometimes set off by motion. It's any wonder I haven't turned out to be a hermit that never leaves the house. Anyway, I ordered the band and prayed it would be effective enough to justify the price. Naturally, as a female, I tend to read instruction manuals before using something, this being no exception. It said to test it on both wrists to see which one was more sensitive to the shock on the lowest setting. I find that it's effective on both equally. There are only five settings and I was curious how strong they were so I tested each setting. Let me just say that 3-5 are pretty damn strong! The highest I have ever had to use it on was a 3 so I'd have to be pretty sick to go higher than that. Most of the time, I can set it on a 1 if I know someone else is going to drive, maybe a 2 depending on where or how they are driving. If I'm already vomiting, it stays on a 3 until the nausea subsides.As far as the vertigo is concerned, if I catch the dizziness early enough, I can put it on a 1 or 2 and be ok while it subsides, which may take some time but it will at least keep it from getting worse. If it's moderate dizziness with mild vomiting, I'll switch it to a 3. However, if a 3 doesn't touch it, then my husband is usually already loading me into the car for a trip to the ER. Sucks but it is what it is.Be aware that you need to use the gel with it. If you try to use it without the gel, you're probably going to burn yourself. If you are going to wear it for a lengthy period of time (long travel, maybe), you'll want to put a generous amount of gel and then reapply as needed. You'll know when to reapply because the metal plates will start to feel hot against the skin when they shock. Also, be sure to wipe it clean after using so that any residual gel doesn't dry and build up on the electrodes. I keep my band and tube of gel in a snack bar shaped Tupperware container and keep it in my purse at all times. I'm sure any container would be sufficient, but something hard would be more ideal to keep the tube from getting punctured and leaking gel everywhere. Life is busy and chaotic enough without having to clean up clear gel and having to explain what it's from.I highly recommend this product for nausea. I would imagine it would work with morning sickness too. If I get pregnant and have a chance to test it out on that, I'll update my review to include the info.

This is a great product and worked for me! I have tried all kinds of medications for seasickness and this has helped me tremendously! I was about to throw in the towel and become a fresh water fisher-woman before I gave this a chance. We fish off shore, sometimes for long 10-12 hour days and this has helped me to enjoy fishing again! There have been a couple of times that I started to feel a little "icky" and would look down at my wrist to increase the intensity of the pulse and I noticed that I had somehow bumped the button and turned the device off. When I turned it back on, with in a few minutes I am feeling better again. So I know it is working for me.I was initially discouraged by the cost but I finally determined that I had spent just as much money on medications that hadn't worked so I am glad I gave this a try.A couple of negative things to share. I ordered the band with replaceable batteries, however, I think it may be the older model. I had trouble with the cover over the battery staying on and it was hard to get back on once it popped out (especially on rocky seas). Also, it is hard to fish the ocean on a rocking boat, fighting albacore tuna and avoid getting your wrist splashed with salt water. After just a few months, the device stopped working and I was getting a "low battery" light. When I tried to replace the batteries, I got the same thing. Even triple checked to make sure I was putting them in correctly. I figured the batteries must be old since I had purchased them online so I bought new ones and still can't get it to work. (FYI the guy at the battery store told me that these batteries have a shelf life of 10 years!) So, I am deducing that the band is shot and I will have to purchase a new one. There is no way to contact the company - through amazon or the company website to get my questions answered and the item is no longer returnable.All that being said.... I will buy another one before next fishing season!

I am in the 1st trimester of my pregnancy and have mild to moderate nausea. This wristband helps give some relief, be it a distraction, or some other reason, I'm unsure. I put the gel on my wrist, put the bracelet on, then adjust the intensity and placement on my wrist until I feel a tingling in my palm and middle fingers.It does NOT eliminate my nausea. It does give some relief, perhaps its a comfort that I can turn to if nausea hits suddenly. It is an eye sore, but when you feel sick you don't care.I do not know how this would help severe nausea. Mine is only mild to moderate, but I do not cope well with nausea, so I was willing to try this.I dont know how long the battery will last, but so far still working after a week. I use a few minutes at a time, 5-6 times throughout the day on average.For other pregnant women- i often feel nauseated if I have an empty stomach. At that point I must eat to feel getter. This wristband does not do much if im nauseated due to empty stomach.
