Needlepainted Plants and Pollinators: An insect lover’s guide to silk shading embroidery

I am a specialist in bees and wasps and was looking for projects to decorate my new craft room. You can find bee kits all over the place but I scoured the web looking for wasp patterns with no luck. Then I spotted a review for this book in a Cross Stitch magazine and quickly ordered it. It is everything i was hoping for!The author takes you through the basics and explains everything you need to know about needlepainting (even this beginner in embroidery can understand) and the patterns and designs are beautiful! She provides you with 9 projects but plenty more to inspire.This book is everything I've been looking for. I highly recommend. I can't wait for her second book.

This is an amazing, detailed guide to both pollinators and embroidery. The pictures are clear, detailed and the step by step instructions are carefully laid out. The text is informative and I learned a lot. I respect wasps now!This would be an excellent present for any nature or craft lovers.

Beautiful book excellent instructions with lovely photos and lots of ideas.

I received this book in exchange for an honest review. First thing I see is a foreword by Iolo Williams, demi-god of the natural history world. And then it gets better; small scale projects ease you in, then off we go into step by step projects accompanied with detailed photos and illustrations. Templates provided too, though the author gently encourages you to use your own photos for future work.Now my knowledge of needlepainting is on a par with Iolo’s, but I know a thing or two about natural history, fear not if you don’t as this beautiful book is a crash course of snippets of info on the flora and fauna featured.I’m still at the ‘buy a kit and have a go’ stage of embroidery, but I am inspired to delve into the alchemy of needlepainting, and hope you will be too.

This book has stunning photos and through instructions on how to do Silk Shading. It’s everything that you want to know and more. At the back of the book is more stunning photos of Victorias work. Really looking forward to to trying some of these out after Christmas especially the HoverflyA must for all embroidery lovers

This book is absolutely amazing. The instructions on how to complete a silk shading embroidery picture are clear and easy to understand even for a beginner like myself. The illustrations are so life like it makes you want to reach out and touch the creature or plant to see if it moves.

Well written book with plenty of instructions & step by step progress pictures to use for reference.looking forward to attempting one or more of the beautifully embroidered pictures to display in my own home.

I bought this book after seeing Victoria's work on a Facebook page during lock down. The book arrived today and I have to say it's beautiful. The illustrations are truly wonderful. The needlepoint is exquisite. I have bought the book for a friends birthday who loves nature and needle point. However, after seeing it, I'm absolutely going to buy one for myself and whoever else I can think of who would appreciate the time and effort that has gone into this work of art.....my Christmas present list just got easy.
