Trinkets and Tales LLC Desperate Measures

This book took me on a ride. Short and sweet and spicy. I’m obsessed. This Aladdin retelling where the villain gets the girl was everything. Jafar man, he has me in a chokehold! And Jasmine I adore her, I loved towards the end of the book watching her realise she deserves better than the life she’s been forced into and then seeing her come out of her shell completely to put the people around her in their place. I loved this book so much more than I thought I would. It’s cover to cover spice but Katee Robert knows how to write it and make it interesting. I was never bored for a single second. I’m so excited to continue reading this series and see more of the underworld.

I want to give it 5 stars, but around halfway through I remember thinking, I really hope there’s at least one sex scene near the end, where their sex is more intimate because they have created an emotional bond. It didn’t happen. All the sex was steamy and rough and not at all ruled by feelings or emotion. I enjoyed it for what it was. If there had been that one scene, the ending may have made more sense to me. Cause you don’t have rough, hard kinky sex 100% of the time with someone you love. You mix it up. The transition from rough and hot to more gentle and intimate would have made for a great emotional development.

What a story! It's so raunchy and really keeps you drawn in to see what will happen to Jasmine and if she will get her freedom. There's a huge twist and a fantastic ending. Lots of sexual content. Beware if consensual non consent is going to to be triggering. Wasn't sure I'd be into it buts it's comfortable enough to read the way it's written.

This book had no right to be this good! It made my life hard cause work was being a lot so I kept carrying the poor thing around just in the case I had a chance to keep on reading.Very addicting. My friends all groaned when I told what it was about (but they also got curious heh. I’m not the only one that watched Aladin as a child and had thoughts about Jafar x Jasmin)10/10 I will be reading this again.

Loved the spin on this. It’s a hot, quick, spicy read, but the characters arcs are authentic and it’s a great read. Not sure why this one doesn’t get more hype.
