What type of paint is best to use for these figures?

A lot of different paints will work from enamel to oil, but we prefer to use water based acrylics as they are easiest to work with, are non-toxic and clean up with simple water. Fantasy Flight Games makes some paint sets that have colors specifically chosen to work with this starter.

I can’t get any paint to hold and not be grainy. What are good solutions? Or a good paint to be suggested?

Did you wash and prime the models beforehand? Models are covered in 'mold-release' and - especially if not primed - will not hold paint well. Typically fill a basin with water and little dishsoap and rub with a toothbrash, douse in clean water to start. I then recommend priming (can look into rustoleum auto primer) which will help hold the paint much better.

What type of glue works best for assembly ?

Any super glue would do. You don't need a whole lot of super glue to assemble the models. I also recommend a pair of Flush Cutters / Sprue cutters to seperate the models from the Sprue. You can use plastic cement, but I personally recommend super glue if you're just getting started. The difference is that super glue is just glue, where-as Plastic Cement actually melts the plastic and allows it to re-bond.
