I bought these to give myself second lobe piercings, and they worked swimmingly. Everything is packaged for safety and cleanliness. I definitely felt it go through my lobe, but I wouldn’t describe it as painful to do, and I think numbing with ice first would decrease any sensation- I just didn’t think of it until I was holding ice packs on them afterwards. It probably differs from person to person, but with icing them for maybe 10 minutes the stinging feeling went away and hasn’t come back. I didn’t expect to like the look of the earrings themselves as much as I do either.I wouldn’t really call these “guns”; you have to pinch it closed while it’s lined up where you want it.They include a marker to mark where you want the earring. I only wish they had a small measuring stick included as well, using my own tailor’s tape measure was a bit cumbersome. But beggars can’t be choosers. It was very much worth the $10(ish) that it cost. Having this done for me would’ve cost a lot more than that, and I couldn’t have done it in my own bathroom.I’ve heard it’s dangerous to use them for your cartilage, so I won’t be trying that, but for the lobe I feel comfortable recommending them to moderately responsible adults.

I have had pierced ears all my life, but I let them grow closed. This gadget was so easy to use and sanitary. The small earrings & short posts are perfect to wear 24/7 while the holes healed. I think my hubby is actually going to let me use it on one of his ears!

So easy and painless, I'm so happy I stumbled across this kit. I had a bunch of holes that had closed over due to laziness/job not allowing piercings so I just alcohol swapped (included), marked (included), and lined up earring post with former hole scar and clicked! So easy and I felt only a mild pinch and it was over.I've had 16 piercings done and doing it myself hurt the least and was the easiest! As long as you are practicing good hygiene practices and keeping piercings clean you should have no issues with this method.

No complaints other than I wish they had different backs or more choices of earrings

Pierced my second holes successfully and they are healing nicely. I plan to do my third hole once the second is healed. I didn’t care for the earrings it came with so I switched them out after 3 weeks. Otherwise, super easy and cheap!

Got worried when the plastic part was left on when I pierced my ears. They don't pop off like other piercing guns, but you can just lightly pull the two pieces apart sideways <-->. Do not pull them out straight up from the earring.Otherwise, very easy and fun. No stability issues with the piercing gun that I used (although the spring inside the gun is kind of scary to push down, don't worry it's ok). Make sure you sterilize well and have fun!

So happy I tried this as it was very easy to do and did not hurt. Saved me lots of money doing it myself.

I personally don't recommend simply because when I tried to use it the gun released the jewelry when the needle was only half way through my ear. In my experience it's way easier to use actual piercing needles because they're sharper.
