My quest for good sleep
As a man in my early 70s, I struggle to get good quality sleep. Ashwagandha is an ancient medicinal herb classified as an adaptogen, meaning that it may help your body in managing stress and anxiety by regulating cortisol levels. In addition, it is claimed to give your brain a boost, lower blood sugar, and reduce depression and inflammation, etc. Since I suspect much of my sleep problem is due to anxiety and stress, I decided to give this a try. After a week or so of use, I believe this has helped. The effect seems to be rather subtle and although I still wake at night, I seem to resume sleep quicker. I take the product in the morning only and at 1/2 the recommended dose since I'm rather sensitive to any medication. I tried taking it at noon or early afternoon and this seems to have a negative affect in my sleeping. I would find it more difficult to initially go to sleep or return to sleep after waking, but by early morning I was sleeping much better and really mellowed out. Perhaps the product works in reducing stress and anxiety during the day, and as the body continues to metabolize the remaining ashwagandha in your body during the evening, it leaves you in a more relaxed state by the time you go to bed, thus allowing a person to get to sleep sooner. Perhaps the reduction in stress is limited to the body's awake time and thus doesn't have the same effect while I'm asleep. My side effects, which are common, have been less stressful dreams at night and a bit of vertigo which is so slight in my case that I will gladly trade this for the positive effects I've experienced. I chose Mercola brand based on my other positive experiences with their products and on the reviews of others here at Amazon. After taking this product for about 3 months, I reduced the dosage to 1/4 of the recommended dosage and am alternating this product with another brand. Check my other reviews and may God help you in your quest for good sleep.

It's good, but...
.... I like herbs in liquid form better.I'd been buying liqui-capsules from Gaia, then decided to buy this instead. Again, it was fine, but for me, I can feel a little charge when I take it in the liquid form, which I don't with the dry form.Mercola is a good company with good herbal products. I'd encourage them to put out a liqui-capsule version, or perhaps a version distilled in a little alcohol (still a superior way of extracting herbs from plants).

It helps!
I’ve been taking one pill per day at bedtime for about two months now, and it really does make a difference! I don’t feel as stressed, I handle stress better.

Good product!
No better than any other brands I have tried. I tend to get stomach/digestive irritation from Ashwaganda depending on my system. My mood definitely improves with Ashwaganda and energy too!

Trust Quality of Dr Mercola’s products. Many companies sell this. But prefer to go with brand I know will be what it says.
