The American Cowboy Saddle Slicker - By Southwestern Equine This Saddle Slicker is designed with the American Cowboy in mind. We know anyone riding in the rain does not want to get their favorite saddle wet. Let us help keep you dry on all those rainy days ahead. Whether your checking your cows, on a trail ride or just hanging out at camp this rain coat will keep you totally dry. Don't think this is just for cowboy's, cowgirls look great in these too! What ever the occasion, this multi functional slicker will help keep you dry. ✓ DETACHABLE HOOD- Every saddle slicker comes with a detachable hood for those days you just want to have a little less. We kept the hood a little on the small side in order to help you have full range of motion. ✓ DUAL CLOSURE- We provided a dual closure to help ensure waterproofing, warmth, and security. First a zipper starting at the hips to secure the jacket to the body. Followed by a set of buttons for a top seal that will not allow water to seep through the cracks of the zipper. ✓ SADDLE GUSSET-The saddle gusset is a little over a foot of extra material on the back of the slicker to help protect your saddle from heavy rain. ✓ DRAW STRINGS- There are draw strings on the inside to adjust to your waistline. Leave the draw strings loose to help keep mobility, or tighten them up to help keep excess air flow out. ✓ AIR VENTED- Air vented sides back to allow a natural cooling environment and prevent excess sweat on the more humid days. With a more breathable slicker, you can wear a normal outfit and not get too hot. ✓ LIGHTWEIGHT- We designed our saddle slicker to fit a little loose. Our Slicker should easily slip over your normal clothes in case you are caught in a storm, and easily get taken off and placed back behind the saddle if skies clear. These PVC dusters are light weight making them easy to carry for you and your horse.

It's a great lightweight rain protector - too many rain resistant options that don't keep you dry -- this one is an old school impermeable. And I think it's cool enough to wear in a downpour in a sophisticated cosmopolitan city or on the farm. The legs even snap up into pants/rain jumpsuit. I will hem mine a bit, but otherwise -- it's lighter than an umbrella and keeps more of you dry. I will always travel with this; chic, sleek, cool and effective.

it's a rain COAT
Rain coat? Slicker? same thing. I am 6ft 1" maybe 164lbs (74kg) I orderd a LARGE. like a belt, one sixe bigger.when i put it on of course it wraped arond me when i held both sides. but you don't want a skin tight rain coat. trust me. the armms came down just past my wrist. (perfict) the slicker cam down to my ankels. (wow) I always hated my legs getting wet. no pants to deal with when you get out of the rain. the other reviewss are carrect about the zipper, it is on backwords. why are they dealing with the hood? they got there cowboy hat? and they can use that to keep the hood in place, just the same? it has a cloth collor. thats a nice additive.. oh and the hood is a snap on. . good product for the money. a duster look with out the price and the wight. the lower buttons? one works. the rest are just wight to keep the bottom of the slicker from blowing all over the place when open.. (my 2¢) It comes folded in a bag. smells not too bad. need to work the lines out of it. i have it hanging up. love the collor!

Dry, Dry on the range.
I have to say this is a pretty darn good slicker. They’re only a couple of things that kept it from five stars:1. The zipper is on the wrong side (left to right), not a big deal but you feel like it’s stucktill you remember.2. The buttons at the bottom, on mine at least, are the wrong buttons. They have the same top snaps on both sides so they dont close up, a defect most likely.3. Keeping the hood inplace in the wind is very difficult. With that said it kept me bone dry from head to toe, my boots were he only thing exposed. It’s just big enough to wear a jacket underneath it. I recommend it to anyone who has to work outside.

Defective from factory? Did they screw up the snap buttons on the legs?
Was it a Monday or a Friday at the factory? The raincoat looks and feels excellent so I'm sure it would make a great raincoat BUT for the snaps on the bottom half at the legs. There seems to be a button missing on both pant legs. Third button up. It also seems that the coat is not meant to be buttoned across the legs (like a dress) but is supposed to be buttoned to wrap around each leg. This is confusing as there are no instructions or pictures that show how to buttons legs. I feel bad for the seller. Did the factory botch the buttons on the legs or is this a mystery that only some good instructions could solve? If you don't mind the missing snaps on the legs - i think this would make a very fine raincoat that will keep you dry.

Not heavy duty
Assuming cowboys work is just as tough and demanding as railroad work i purchased this thinking it would be heavy duty pvc. Its not i will have this shredded in 12 hours. Unfortunately i can't send it back just because its made for a non working environment. It is thinner than contractor grade trash bags. Fits perfect thats about it.

Great Coat
Excellent for the money. Not sure what some others were expecting for the price. I purchased this specifically for the Kū Kiaʻi Mauna Protection of Mauna Kea movement in Hawaiʻi. At approximately 7000 feet it can be hot one minute and freezing cold, crazy windy and raining like mad the next. Anyone who know mountain weather knows this. Got my chance to try out my new coat right away. Wind and rain like crazy with warm breaks. Coat performed flawlessly! I like the look and feel. Iʻm 5,11 180. Got a large, fit perfect. NO issues with snaps. Some folks my not be snapping correctly. Snaps into legs (so you can still straddle a saddle). Canʻt go wrong for the price. I agree, this is not a hard labor coat but rather more of a wear around.

NICE rain gear!
The first time I got to use this slicker I wasn't riding, but was at a horse event. It poured cats and dogs and I stayed dry. They fit a little large (I am 5'7, 185 lbs and ordered a medium), but they allow room for riding and a jacket if cold. I walked into the supper gathering wearing my slicker and Aussie hat and someone said "you look like you just came off the range"!
