SABRENTUSB 3.1 to SATA Dual Bay Hard Drive Docking Station for 2.5 or 3.5 inches HDD, SSD

I bought this to replace an older version that stopped working.Setup is quick and easy.Install the drive/s and power it on.I don't use the stand alone cloning, but it does have the feature... You should only use it if you're cloning two drives off the same type and size, otherwise use software.I do wish it was a little easier to line up the SATA port when installing a 2.5" drive, sometimes, especially on 7mm drives, it's hard to line up.

Sólo lo uso para un disco duro de forma esporádica pero funciona como se espera.

Dead on arrival. Thought this was too cheap and it was. Spins up disk on power-on, no connectivity. Tried on Windows and Linux, using included cables and 3rd party cables. Disks and cables all verified before submitting refund request. Don't bother.

Ad un prezzo concorrenziale rispetto ad altre docking piu' o meno simili ho voluto "rischiare" nel prendere questa Sabrent."Rischiare" non tanto per le specifiche della stessa docking ma per il fatto che non c'erano altre recensioni al momento del mio acquisto.Uno stimolo in piu' nell'acquistare questa docking dual bay sono stati i due cavi a corredo: un USB-A -> USB-C di tipo Superspeed e un USB-C -> USB-C sempre 3.1 ad alta velocitá.Speravo (e' l'unico neo che ho riscontrato) in cavi da oltre 1 metro per poter collegare la docking un po' piu' distante dal mio PC ma sono risultati entrambi corti di circa 20 centimetri rispetto alle mie esigenze e ho dovuto spostare la docking piu' vicina al desktop.I cavi sono assolutamente ed effettivamente superspeed.Li ho confrontati con altri cavi in mio possesso (anche dichiarati USB 3.1 gen2) e la velocita' corretta l'ho ottenuta solo con questi.La docking esteticamente e' assolutamente classica e puo' alloggiare qualsiasi disco standard con connessione ed alimentazione SATA (per intenderci sia quelli piccoli che quelli normali).Nelle immagini in allegato troverete i tests che ho fatto collegando sempre lo stesso HardDisk (un Toshiba DT01ACA050 da 500GB) in tre maniere diverse.Prima l'ho provato direttamente collegato alla scheda madre (controller SATA 3), poi ad una docking 2.0 infine a questa docking Sabrest.La Sabrest e' stata persino piu' veloce del controller della scheda madre.Nulla da dire!Le bay sono 2, se occupate entrambe i dischi vengono regolarmente visti dal sistema operativo e lavorano contemporaneamente.Ricordate che per usare la funzione di clonazione e' necessario scollegare la USB dal PC ed agire solo sulla Docking con il tasto sulla sinistra (da premere 2 volte).Alimentatore con cavo lungo (e comodo) di tipo switching a 12v.La spina dell'alimentatore deve essere inserita nello stesso per essere adattata alla presa italiana (nessuna difficoltá).Presente anche un manuale molto essenziale.Nessun driver richiesto (alla fine e' una periferica USB) sul mio Windows 10 x64.Tasto on/off sul retro (lo avrei preferito frontale).Connettore USB-C sul retro (ma nessun problema avete due cavi a seconda del tipo di porta del vostro PC).Assicuratevi ovviamente di collegarlo ad una porta USB 3 (anche se e' retrocompatibile)!In caso non vediate una periferica su esplora risorse ricordate di andare su gestione dischi e di formattarla (se necessario) o di assegnarle una lettera come drive.Compatibile con MAC (procedura nelle istruzioni).Le stesse istruzioni sono scaricabili da internet in lingua inglese.Non ho possibilitá di provarlo su Linux ma non ci dovrebbero essere problemi.Una ottima scoperta; lo consiglio assolutamente anche per il valore aggiunto dei cavi.Se avete dubbi o domande sono a vostra disposizione.... chiedete!Buoni acquisti... e alla prossima review!

I plugged it into the wall and set it up behind my desk in the back for occasional use and I put two 4 TB drives in each of the sled doors or bays I guess they're called, and they both mounted on my windows computer as well as my Mac computer. So everything's working fine I copied several files to and from each drive as well as to and from each of the computers both Mac and Windows and everything went absolutely fine at the speeds advertised as long as your computer supports it. Time will tell but so far zero issues. Build quality is about what you'd expect a little better than some I've had. I had an older model thermal take one that felt really plasticy and cheap whereas this one feels a little more rugged like it will stand the test of time better. I don't use these that often anymore except on high storage capacity drives because I'm all SSD now but they do survey purpose and they work great when you need them and these feel like they will last forever I bought two of them one for two different desks
