Clean design, includes a lithium coin cell and very reproducable over several measurements. To turn on the scale, simply step on it (it does take a reasonable weight to trigger it). If you briefly step on to wake it up, the scale will then auto-zero. Step back on and it will take a reading for a second or two before flashing the display and showing the final result. The display then turns off after about 10s.We tried it first on a cushioned tile "hard" floor in the kitchen and it was extremely accurate (when compared to a recent measurement at our GP surgery). However trying it out the box on even low pile carpet it gave a significantly lower reading of between 5-10kg. I was aware this would happen which is why I chose this scale as including carpet feet. I expected carpet feet to be included in the box (as in the description and with many Salter scales) but there weren't any and no mention on the box or instructions. This was my reason for chosing this scale so I was initially very disappointed and I've knocked a star off for this reason. However I eventually placed the scales on a solid square piece of wood (see photo) which has solved the measurement problem. The MDF base ensures the sensors don't sink into the carpet and it now works perfectly in the bedroom, so useful tip if you have the same problem. The wood I used was from an old piece of well known Swedish furniture, but I'm sure any solid piece of 10mm or thicker MDF will do the trick.Overall a no frills but well made and accurate scales. Doubt I'll need to make use of the 15 year warranty but it inspires confidence in the product. There's also a small switch on the underside next to the battery compartment if you want to switch units to stone/lbs. Eco friendly packaging (apart from the plastic bag to protect it in the box) so overall a good buy and well recommended, as long as you don't mind placing it on a hard surface. No carpet feet included!

Really good set of scales, affordable and really accurate - as most others I read A LOT of product reviews before deciding which scales to buy and all I can say is when people complain about the accuracy reading being off it begs for me to question whether they read the instruction booklet included. If you move it around, you are meant to initialise it each time! Which only takes 2 seconds to do!Really happy with this product and would recommend 👍🏻

It is ridiculously sensitive to different floor types and I have no idea which one it "likes" to give an accurate reading. I've tried a flat wooden floor, tiled floors x 2 and a concrete floor... all within two minutes of each other and all resulting in different readings - up to 5lbs apart.Totally useless.The one star is for the design. Ultra slim and looks great. Maybe I'll use it as a placemat...

Awful. I can gain/lose up to 5lbs just by moving the scales to a different part of my tiled bathroom floor. As accurate as a chocolate clock in a furnace.

This is my second set of these scales, and both sets smashed when picking up. Standing on a bathroom floor in bare feet with bits of glass everywhere is highly dangerous. I assumed the first one might have just been a bad batch of glass, but for 2 scales to smash in exactly the same way with 2-3 uses suggest a design flaw in them.Due to this I would not recommend these scales, especially if you don't want to be picking up tiny bits of glass shards for days. This has really put me off buying any glass scales now. Very disappointing from a well known company!
