Rocket my ferret prefers this water dish over the traditional cage water bottle. The tray keeps him from knocking his food bowl over and the white part comes out of the water dish comes out making cleaning it easy. Make sure you have a bottle brush though, so that you can throughly clean the water bottle.

My ferrets hated the water bottle with the ball in the spout and it seemed like they weren't getting enough water. So I switched to this. It's easier to move between carriers or have out when they're running about. My younger ferret kept removing the white piece on the water side although it snaps in place. She wasn't getting her desired amount of water so I removed it completely. All in all, they've been enjoying it.

Update: I modified this bowl by putting two small holes above the waterline, straightening a paperclip,, and passing a the wire through the holes bending the wire slightly on the bottom side of the bowl. The ferret hasn't gotten the white ring free since.She's now discovered the bottle is easily dislodged and can be knocked over. I'm going to try securing the bowl and bottle to the side of the cage. I'm thinking two holes in the back edge with a piece of wire ran through and secured to the cage. Another rigid wire secured to the cage, extended out and looped around the bottle. It will be designed to easily slide up for me to free the water bottle for refill.Original post:First introduction and my ferret figured out how to pull the white plastic ring from its secured, locked in, location in under a minute, which defeats the purpose of this purchase.Other than the problem solving ferret defeating the bowl, the bowl is nice quality and may work for another animal.I plan to alter the bowl. I think I will try drilling two small holes above the water line and inserting a piece of wire with the ends sticking through the holes like I drew in the picture. Since she grabs it with her mouth by sticking her nose near the water bottle and her chin through the center hole, I think one wire would work. If not, I 'd put a second wire parallel to the first on the other side of the water hole.

They can scratch out the white ring on water side but I put it back and they got use to it and no problems. They tried and tried to spill but can't. I told them ha! Lol

This water dispenser was recommended by a ferret expert. It did not work in keeping my ferrets from splashing out the water. The little white tray just sits in the water cup area. It does not snap in or anchors in any way. Ferrets have fingers and it was easily lifted right out, multiple times. I will try and figure out a way to hold it down. Don’t buy this dish for ferrets. They will remove the white tray.

Works well

This product has many problems with it. One of the biggest is the thing in the middle of the water bowl part. It prevents pets from getting a good lick of a water--it prevents the curling of their tongue so they cannot really drink well.I also found that my cat is way too messy of an eater and had to take the whole thing apart every single day and clean it. With the food being this close to the water, this is unavoidable I suppose.The whole thing looks cute otherwise but completely useless.

I received only 4 parts to the dish. There was no lid for the bottle and no way to atttatch it to the dish.
