Science-based information very helpful to me!
This has much helpful advice, for instance that you should apply moisturizer and/or ointments within 3 minutes of showering and also that ointments work better than moisturizer. I really appreciated the scientific info about skin, genetics, and how infections often happen because of eczema-related skin cracking as well as itching. As a chronic sufferers, this book had helped me to prevent and to treat flares, definitely improving my quality of life. I’ve been seeing dermatologists a few times a year since I was a teen, for particularly bad flare ups, but I definitely still learned a lot ofhelpful info from this book. I’d love to see an updated version of the book. For instance, now there are widely available gentle soaps (the book was written when Dove was the only one, which the book recommends but for me and some others Dove is skin- irritating). I’d love to see additional information (in a new edition if the book) from the 15 years of medical research that has happened since the book was written in 2005!!! I really appreciate that the authors write about symptoms and effects on various skin colors, and do not assume the reader is any particular skin color. Similarly, I greatly appreciate that the language uses “he or she” and never assumes the reader is any particular gender. Overall I think the book is excellent and highly recommend it (and today I’m about to buy it again, this time for a native who also suffers from eczema). There is one short section that I recommend be changed a bit in a future edition of this book: the book says that if you or relatives have arthritis, chronic rhinitis, or eczema then it’s likely you have it. That makes no sense, since most people have relatives with some combo of those and may have some of those. Instead, it should just say that research has shown the odds are more likely that you will have eczema if those other indicators are true.

Very good product
The people who suffer from eczema should buy this book. The book's title is catchy; the author explains, however, that there is no fast method to get rid of eczema. I suffered from eczema since I was a kid. In 2010, I bought this book and followed most of the recommendations. It is 2014 now, and I do not need cortisol creams anymore. I have eczema rash on my left hand (particularly, palm) once in a while. But I remember the times when my whole body was covered with eczema rash; I definitely improved my situation by changing certain habits. For example, bathing habits. Just read this book. I highly recommend this product.

A ton of information .
THis book contains a huge amount of information that doctor's don't seem to have the time to inform we eczema patients about. If there is anything not covered in this book I can't imagion what that could be. Since eczema comes in many forms, it can affect people differntly. You will discover why there is no magic bullit cure-all for eczema but for all of us who suffer the itching and scrathing of this sometimes serious condition, there is hope for an effective treatment against it's symtoms.. My only negative is that there are few too many pictures and diagrams to help illustrate the sometimes rather complex issues.
