Konami Def Jam Rapstar for Playstation 3

There has been a couple of games that tried to incorporate rap-hiphop into their games. There was even a rap Karaoke game. Well, I am glad to say they finally did it right!Basically, this is a Singstar/Lips (or whatever karaoke game you play) that focuses mainly on the "Rap" Genre. This includes a whole array of music, that spans generations, regions, and styles. Basically there is something for everyone here if you are a fan of "Rap". The system actually works, and it actually works VERY well. It not only matches your timing (whether or not you say the lyrics at the right time) but it actually checks to see if you say the right lyrics. Not only that, it sees if your pitch matches that of the singer (assuming there is singing in the song).In all, the game works pretty well!Better than you would imagine. But if you don't know the words to the song, you probably aren't going to pass the song.The Career Mode is slightly fun, but extremely short.Party Mode jumps you right into the actionFreestyle mode allows you and your friends to JUST HAVE FUN!Song List:The song is is diverse, but is mainly the top songs over a 20 year period. So some of which you will know and love! Some of which you "know" but aren't 100% sure of what the words are. The song list is pretty solid, and the DLC is pretty great. To top it off, every song comes with its own music video, so the song feels complete. Granted, every song is the Tv release of the song (at the time), so every song is censored for MTV audiences.PROS::This game is tons of fun if you don't mind doing Hip-Hop/Rap karaoke. If you are into this sort of music, then this game is right up your alley. The DLC is good, and allows you to pick songs that YOU know and love. This includes older and newer music.CONS::Although the game works, some modes could be improved. There should just be a mode that allows you to put the songs on random, and just watch the videos. Also, you should be more customization options. Career mode, just feels like something to make the game feel more complete, but definitely lacking. Also, the online experience could be improved greatly. Although this game works well, it feels like there are lots of little aspects that could be improved.CONCLUSION::If you've always loved rap and hip-hop, You will love this game. Not only is it well done, but it i definitely loads of fun for the friends and family who love the genre.

My son opened his gift this morning and was excited about the game until he realized the actual disc wasn't in the case. You can only imagine how disappointed he was.

I love this game, but it's so darn hard. I got so tired of losing that I had to put this away for a little while. It has a few classics, as well the current hip-hop stuff. There's some Biggie, Snoop, Lil Wayne, and more (unfortunately no Jay Z). If you're into karaoke/singstar, this is definitely worth adding to your collection.

I'm not that into some of the artists. Can't stand a few actually. The first song I tried was Ice Cube, It Was a Good Day, I got rated off the chain on that song. When I got it I wanted to download the available content but I guess they got sued or at least that's what I heard, so any of the downloadable content from when the game was released isn't there now. The game was $5 so I was happy about finding it for so cheap. I got it home last night and played it for hours. Worth the money. It's a must have for those who love hip hop and rap. SingStar games are great!!
