Daylight White
As a budding filmmaker, I’m always in search of quality lighting gear, and the Amaran 100D S by Aputure caught my eye. It’s a bright white daylight video light, which suits most of my shooting needs. Unlike other lights from the same brand, this one doesn’t have colored lighting capabilities, so keep that in mind if you’re looking for RGB effects. There’s a bit of a learning curve with the Sidus Link app, but once I started experimenting with the built-in effects, like simulating camera flashes, strobe lights, and lightning, I realized how powerful it is. Adjusting light intensity is straightforward, although you’ll probably want to budget some time to get comfortable using the app. It doesn’t come with a stand or softbox, but those are available separately if you need them. Overall, it’s a fantastic light, though be prepared to invest time into learning its app features.

Impressive build quality and easy to control via app. Feels a little dated though.
This thing is chonky for only being a 100w light. While it's mostly heavy duty plastic with some metal parts, it looks like a 200w+ light when it comes to size and build. It even has a ac adapter with a power brick and security line on it. Very old school. The light that comes from it is pretty, and the hyper reflector is strong. I'm not the biggest fan of hyper reflectors as the Amaran 60's have them also, I find them a little too spotty. The light from this hyper reflector is a little cleaner but there is still a bright hotspot in the middle of the beam it puts out. Something that's great with Aputure lights is you can press the intensity button and it goes up in 20% steps. The transition percentage wise is very smooth and the light quality is very clean and pretty. This light version is only daylight balance so the controls for intensity are pretty easy on the back It's also very easy to control via the sidus link app also. Sidus Link is probably one of the better, if not best, wireless apps to control lights with I've used, and as a vines reviewers we test quite a few.Sadly I do feel the light is a little dated in some regards. I wish it could take a vmount or npf battery like the 60's can. Also the power brick is a little annoying when lights like the Molus X100 can be fullow powered by a gan charger putting out 120w's over a USB-C line. It just seems bulky for no reason, including the physical builds. With 100w lights coming out from other companies like Zhiyun, Smallrig, and more that are a lot smaller than this, this light feels like it could be streamlined in a smaller package while keeping it's same functionality. It's not a bad light, but at $200 there are other lights I would suggest looking at that do offer some further flexibility. If you have a lot of Aputure lights and just want something else for the system, this isn't a bad light though I do suggest the bi-color on over being stuck in just daylight.
