Ports too big for the case?
Okay, I might get flamed for this review, because it could very well be my computer case, but no joke, the metal separators between slots in the back of the case are not wide enough for USB wires to plug into this card! It's certainly not an issue of moving it higher or lower (and potentially damaging the card and or motherboard slot), the female ports on this card simply are too wide (vertically) for a cable to be inserted into without the case's metal separators getting in the way which makes little sense to me, but I am a simple guy, maybe there's something I'm missing. I'll try it out on another computer but as of now I can't even give this thing a fair shake because of the sizing... I'm open to suggestions here.

Did not work in Dell server with Windows 2003 32-bit
This board would not function in a Windows 2003 Server. Tried both a 4x and 8x PCIe slot. Board was recognized by the OS and driver installed without problem, but when drives were connected, a dialog box popped up saying that the device was drawing to much power. This could not be the case because all the devices were external USB drives that have their own power supplies. Tried everything I could think of to resolve this but no joy. Called tech support and got a human (this was impressive!!), but no real help. He did not known anything about the message I received.I do not know if the actual card I got was bad or if there was some other issue going on. Also, beware of the horizontally placed USB ports. This is a REALLY tight fit and it was VERY difficult to be sure that the device cables were actually plugging in all the way. To be sure that was not an issue, I actually took a knife and cut way some plastic on each device cable to be sure it was seating properly. Also I double verified that I had power to the 4-pin Molex connector to be sure this was not an issue.I wanted this card to work very badly because of the dedicated chip for each port and compatibility with Windows 2003 32-bit, but unfortunately that didn't happen. I could have pursued a replacement card, but due to the time wasted trying to make this one work, I decided to go with a different brand.

Did not work with Windows 10 / Server 2016
Unfortunately this card would cause random hangs (total freeze) when installed in my Dell Precision T7500 Workstation. Found that no matter the PCIE port, system would hang at a random time after booting to desktop, or even occasionally when booting or shutting down.I moved the card to my Ubuntu 18.04 Server, where it appears to work perfectly. So I would say that this card should not be used in Windows 10 or Server 2016.For those OS's, I would recommend this card, which is installed and working perfectly in the T7500 without any issue:Vantec Dual Chip 4-Port Dedicated 10Gbps USB 3.1 Gen 2 PCIe Host Card(UGT-PCE470-2C)

Check your case card slots size before purchase.
Fit in like a champ purchased startech version of the same card the mounting plate on the startech did not fit very well compared to the vantech.. usb cables would not go in all the way on the startech because of the thickness of the usb card mounting bracket was too far from the actual usb ports on the card itself and with certin computer cases like my thurmaltake the slots on the back of the case were not wide enough to push in usb cables and being the usb ports are vertical did not help the issue .vantech on the other hand provides tight tolorence between card and bracket, usb cables go in with room the spare from back of computer case the usb ports are smaller vertical wise because of a sleeker design on the vantec card .. the startech is on its way back to amzon i will not ruin a 200 dollar case to make it fit .

Not very impressed.
Even though installed in a Dell R630 server, with 16 cpu cores and 64GB RAM, this board is pretty slow; it runs at 1/2 the speed of even a lowly Dell desktop SuperSpeed USB port on my Dell Optiplex 7010. Tested with the identical external USB 3 drive (7.200 rpm Fantom 4TB). On the Dell Optiplex, I get 270+ megabytes per second throughput; on the Vantec card in the Dell R630 Server, I only get 127 megabytes per second, even with the policy set to performance vs. quick removal. Not very impressed.

I love this. 1) this card is fast
I love this.1) this card is fast.2) The Drivers are simple. Without any kind of booster app or any other nonsense.3) This card DOES work on Server 2003! Just like the box says it does.3a) My HP ML310G4 is running Server 2003 X64 R2 with all the updates and the card works fine.3b) If you have server 2003 x64 R2 and want to use this, do it. if you are running X32 or R1 you might have issues but I did not.

This was purchased to add a USB 3. 0 ...
This was purchased to add a USB 3.0 dedicated storage bus to a file server, and it is working flawlessly. I subtracted one star because I get transfer speeds about 10MB/sec less than when plugged into the USB 3.0 port on the motherboard, but I suspect that to be caused by the drivers. I will revise if this is remedied in an update.

Great product!!!
Outstanding product, reliable and lived up to speed expectations. It states clearly that speed is dependent upon connected device and I found that different devices did indeed produce different speed results. I haven't had so much as a hitch since I installed it in a Dell Poweredge 610 series server. It does require a power connector (I didn't want to overdrive the bus) so I had to steal the DVD power connector as I didn't have a splitter with me at the time of install.
