I wanted red
It's a great highlighter. HOWEVER I really need a red highlighter. RED, not Coral Pink. I won't return it but if anyone knows of a true red highlighter please tell me. I know I can get them from another company but in a multicolor pack. But in my office we use them regularly, as an indicator of a bad item. It is the fourth most used color behind yellow, pink and orange. I want red.

Bright without bleed through!!
I love these and have even gifted them because unlike many highlighters I have used, these do not bleed through very thin paper pages and dry quickly without smudging. These can make a thing light underline or a heavier wider highlight over a sentence based on how one turns them. Very versatile with bright beautiful colors. Did I mention a great price for such a fine assortment?

Doesn't smudge on my Moleskine notebook even on the smudgiest fountain pen ink
I wanted a highlighter that would work on my personal journal and diary and so I searched the Internet for highlighters that probably won't smear my Blue-Black fountain pen ink when it is dry on my graph-paper quad Moleskine notebook. JetPens recommended the Staedtler Textsurfer Classic 364 Highlighter and so I ordered it here and they work great! No smearing and very little bleed through. Top marks!

Excellent Quality for Fine Papers
I started using these over 10 years ago and will only buy Staedtler Brand for highlighters. Other brands say they don't bleed, but they do and others are waxy, which makes pages stick. These Staedtler highlighters are excellent for fine papers. I use them in my Bible and the ink does not bleed through. Also good for vellums and engineering documents. Only word of caution is with the Blue highlighter. It releases too much ink that can seep through and is too dark. It will cover the words. Use it on cheap papers or heavy construction papers. All the other colors are excellent for fine papers. I now buy the red in bulk because it is a hard color to find. I hope they never stop making these. All other brands don't compare to the quality of Staedtler.

Not Red
This is not red. Not even close to red. I would say it’s coral or salmon.

Quality markers but came with caps loose
So far these markers seem to work well. You can barely see the color when you turn over the page, so I am glad it is not bleeding through like other markers. I would have liked to have a smaller package available, but figure these will last me for many years.10/15/20: I wrote this review after grabbing one of the markers, which worked well. When I went to use more of the colors, I realized that they came with ALL of the caps loose, and one of them (the purple) barely makes a mark, because it dried out. I took one star away for this.

Best highlighters made
Score a five on all categories, hands down. The chiseled tips allow you to highlight in either broad strokes or narrow bands. The medium does not bleed through textbook paper, or even finer papers like Filofax. Also, it does not smudge inkjet copies - I know of no other highlighter product for which that is true. The highlighters are relatively expensive, but have a greater ink capacity - you can highlight quite a bit of text before depleting the pen.The caps snap on securely to close the highlighter, however, the caps do not remain securely on the other end of the pen when it is in use.The flat shape prevents the highlighter from rolling. The pocket clip is secure and usable.

Wonderful. Good for sketching
I love these highlighters for doing figure drawing, or just some loose, warm-up sketches. The base shape has a great feel to it, and the caps are sturdy. These have lasted me a pretty long time, and the caps don’t just pop off at random in my pencil bag. Great tool for artists, love the color variety for my sketches. Probably fine for taking notes, but I can guarantee that these feel nice to hold for hours on end.

Same price as the market-leading highlighter brand, but with absolutely no text smudging on inkjet docs. Result!
I've pretty much had it with cheapo highlighter pens; leaky, bleed through, smudging of printed text and no longevity being the main reasons. I have been buying the 'usual suspect' Stabilo Boss brand of late, which still suffers from the smudging problem and that's why I opted to give the Staedtler ones a chance. These cost exactly the same on Amazon on a box of 10, so there was little real risk involved in the purchase. And what a purchase it has turned out to be. These 'textsurfer' highlighters live up to the no smudging promise, both for my inkjet printouts (that I mark-up the most) and for a rollerball using quink ink on paper as well. A real result in fact, I was quite surprised at how good these actually are.Nice bright yellow. Zero bleed through on standard 80gsm printer paper. No smudging on either inkjet printed or handwritten with ink documents. No leaks. Nice tight fitting cap which stands no chance of dislodging in a drawer. Is there a downside? A small one, in that they seem to run out of juice a little quicker than the Stabilo ones. Maybe as a consequence of the chemical used, who knows? It's no biggie though, they still last far longer than the cheap ones and the benefits of a smudge-free document outweigh the slight longevity doubts.

FOR HIGHLIGHTING EVENTS THAT ARE NOT HIGHLIGHTS.
These Staedtler highlighters are good pens and their ink has been developed for using over the ink of computer print-outs without incurring the dreaded smudging. They are good for generic use also and are more worth acquiring than those one's having a short life in the 'Never-mind-the-quality-pay-the-quid' shops. I wanted the blue based highlighting colours, as these are harder to come by separately, and the others will be useful when my present selection of those colours runs dry. I'm a pensioner who ( rather than suffering from memory loss can't be bothered to think about the more mundane stuff ) has this regime of signifying repeat events on my wall calendar ( company pension, state pension, green dustbin, grey dustbin, repeat prescription dates and collection days), marking out specific cycles of events with specific colours in one fell swoop at the commencement of each year. It works for me but I need to expand into the blue colours now as there are further repetitive events to signify of late. Yeah, life gets that exciting when you retire, whoopee !Eamonn

Quality from trusted brand
These highlighters are excellent, pleasure to use, tips work great both wide and narrow lines, and amount of ink is perfect - highlights the text but doesn't reduce readability overly.Brand is worth paying for if the quality goes with it - that's the case here. And for £3.28 - would be rude to say no :)

No smudges, lasts a long time, and there's 8 of them!
One highlighter is lasting me a very long time. I've used the Orange one extensively, for about 100 A5 pages and it's still going. I've started to use the Yellow one and that too is keeping its shine after about 30 pages.Leave the printer ink to dry on the page for about 30 seconds first, and you'll get no smudging at all. Even highlighting ballpoint pen, if there's no wet ink left (or only a little), it will not smudge. The price is also very low for 8 highlighters, giving excellent value.PS. Very good value pack
Purchased this as an emergency buy to replace my highlighters for Uni. I was really impressed with the price for such a large value pack, with a great variety of colours including the extra colours of the more popular choice. These are really easy to use and ergonomic, work great on paper or in books and fit nicely even in a small pencil case, with a good product life too. I would definitely recommend these for students or work.
