You get what you pay for.
Yes you need to purchase the trim set separately. On the positive side; this would translate to a cost saving if you need to replace either part in the future! It’s a high quality component as you would explicit from the Grohe brand.

not suitable for UK plumbing
Grohe always great quality, however, not suitable for UK waste size - for the price tag you would expect they provide a UK adaptor, and also the waste plug + overflow cover which are an option at another £30 - returned all!
