No more tangles or twists!
Thrilled that these (I bought 2) work as intended although I bought it 5 feet too long to replace the other kind we had that broke. It's been about a month since I first received these and began using them. Even though I ended up with a like that was too long for my purpose, I just wrapped it around the post of our back porch an extra time or two and I was good. It works great, is actually I bit lighter than the old lines I had so I was a bit concerned about it withstanding the weight of our dogs which is why I've waited to post my review. I wasted my time in worrying, even though these are a lighter weight than my previous tie outs, they are stronger, the metal clips are holding up remarkably and we don't have to worry about the dogs escaping because the clip failed (happened a bunch with our old ones) and what is the very, very, very best is that we no longer have to deal with having to untangle the evil line because the dogs ended up twisting and tangling it up somehow (even though there's NOTHING around for them to even get it twisted/tangled)!We have 2 dogs:One is a female 7 pound purebred Chihuahua & the other is a 12 - 13 pound mix (guesses are Chihuahua, Dachshund, some kind of Terrier and who knows what else). We have to use these lines weekly since the 7 pounder is an aggressive dog who can't be allowed free around other dogs because she will fight. Our backyard is fenced in but when both dogs need to potty at the same time we use these to hook them both up outside. We also use these because snakes (including rattlesnakes), raccoon's, armadillos, possums, rabbits and a bunch of other woodland wildlife find their way under or over our wooden fence but rarely do they even come up onto our back porch or the 10 feet the dogs are allowed on these tie outs. Even the fenced part of the yard is huge though.

*NOT* "Rust-Proof" as indicated in the image - it's now just "Rust-Resistant"
I ordered this to replace a similar dog tie-out that had rusted through...thankfully our dog apparently didn't realize she was free as we let her in the door with about 18" of cable hanging from her neck... I bought it largely due to the "rust-proof" label on the packaging as pictured. Some reviews indicated rusting issues, but I figured I would give it a shot anyway. What I received isn't appreciably different from any other such tie-out we have used in the past...and all have rusted. The labeling in the Amazon image says "Strong and Safe, Allows Freedom for Dogs, Insures Safety, Rust-Proof." What I received says "Stronger than Chain, Allows Freedom for Dogs, Rust-Resistant." Quite a change from their original claims.I won't know how it truly holds up for a year or more probably...but all other tie out cables we have used that looked similar eventually fail. The coating starts to get stiff and brittle, then cracks form, then water gets in and starts to eat away at the cable inside. I don't expect this one will last appreciably shorter or longer than any of the others...Follow-up: Here we are about 18 months later, and the cable is beginning to fail. Coating is cracking and cable starting to rust a bit. I will last a while longer, but I'm at the point of thinking about replacement to be sure it doesn't fail. For those interested, I came up with an alternative solution. Go to the hardware store (or perhaps available on Amazon too, but not cut to length) and get some stainless steel cable, you should be able to get it cut to your desired length. Looks just like what is in these dog tie-outs, but not coated in plastic/vinyl/whatever. Then get the accessory parts in stainless as well, such as the support to wrap it around back on itself to create the "loop" at the end (not sure of the proper name), the the clamps that hold that end of the cable to itself, and a removable link to hook your created loop to the normal dog collar clip. You can salvage the clip off of a failed chain like this if it is still good, which it likely is. I did this for another door at our house not too long after this tie-out went in service, and it still looks just as good as the day I put it out. Yes, it's more expensive and takes a little work, but well worth it in my opinion...

My dog loves it. Love the cable
My dog loves the cable. It doesn't tangle, I got it at the perfect length. My dog ( his name is DAM IT, especially it is). Anywho, Dam it is a Chi-wenie but I'd taller than a dachshund would be, that's the Chihuahua in him. He loves to bark at other dogs and cats. The tie out cable is perfect so he can't go out to far in the yard and is strong enough that he can't break it. .

For a senior dog who likes to wander ...
My dog, Logan (see picture 1), and I are full-time travelers. He was a rescue and full grown when he came to live with me, which was fifteen years ago. So, he could be sixteen - not sure. This is a recent photo of him. He's very healthy, physically. But he has dementia, is deaf (but senses percussion and vibration), is mostly blind, and likes to wander to wherever his nose leads him. He just tracked a rabbit this morning, LOL. It has been a long time since I saw him that excited!! Most of our journey takes us to National Forests where we camp for a couple of weeks at a time. There, dogs must be on leash, no longer than six feet, at all times. I wouldn't have it any other way anyway. He would definitely get lost if left to wander around. I have a retractable leash for our walkabouts. And I have this tie out cable (see picture 2) to secure him in camp. I hook the cable to the passenger side of my van door so that Logan can go between the tent and the van for shelter and shade. This product is awesome. Truly, every part of it is made of quality grade materials designed for the size of the dog. I'm so glad I bought it.

Dog Tie Out - 10'
We were thrilled to find a dog tie-out at Amazon that is only 10' in length!!!! This shorter length is hard to find, and we just like to take our dog out in our fenceless backyard and let her play in the grass while it's attached to a strong shepherd hook while we garden and do other yard work. Thank you for carrying this size!!!!!!!!
