Despite the reviews, I am aware of this brand and bought the product on these pretences. I can confirm I am elated with my choice and these are comfortable to use. These handles are a joy to hold. The blades line up perfectly. These are great for trimming and topiary. The cutting edges are like a perfect pair of scissors and satisfying to use. In fact when I trimmed my grass plants which are rounded, I felt like a hairdresser, but totally loved every cut!

hey to all who has taken the time to read this.i am using these alot for the normal reasons of garden!!how ever i will be complete honest i walked over a weed in a lawn and thought i will just pry that out with my shears and then i went to use them after and found that i had bent them beyond repair.its safe to say that i did try and the metal is rather flexible and i have learnt to care of my things and use the right tools each time. hope this helps anyone who is trying to find some hard working shears that do not appear to need any maintenance provided that you take care of them and not walk on them or chuck them about then i think they would last a very long time.

These shears are lovely to use, sharp and lightweight. They were a great price too as they were reduced, but aren't overly expensive without being too cheap either. They have lovely wooden handles.Spear and Jackson are a well established company and have been supplying garden tools for many years.I find it is a waste of money buying cheaper garden tools as they either fall apart and are impossible to repair and get blunt quickly. They may last a few years, but eventually stop working as they should. These are good quality and look good. They make the job easier and more of a pleasure, which gardening is and should be!I am very happy with them.

I have no idea how many pairs of shears I have bought over the years. All i want is a pair of sharp grass shears rather than hedge shears and sometimes it is difficult to tell what you are actually getting due to lack of information on the product descriptio. Thes arrived and I was pleased to find that they are indeed ideal for grass cutting. They are lightweight ( which after reading negative reviews about bending blades may not neccessarily be a good thing). They cut well bt to be fair they should being new. The biggest problem over the years in my experience with anything with a blade, is inevitably they always go blunt and geting them sharpened is no longer cheap resulting in the purchase of yet another new pair of shears, I will be updating this review at the end of the summer so finger crossed a good purchase. Only 4 stars given as they are expensive.

These shears came very quickly. The wood feels cheap and flimsy but good.I used the shears to cut away a thorn bush. After using for about an hour the metal was beginning to bend and eventually as the metal warped it just buckled and bent completely making them unusable.

I am disappointed because the blades do not meet throughout. The last 3 inches of the blade do not meet which means only about 5 inches of cutting. I am sending these back. Maybe it is a one off but probably not.

I'm in my 70s and have been using shears since my teenage years. These are beyond doubt the best I've ever bought. They're light, the handles are comfortably shaped for ease of use and the blades are razor sharp. They go through the toughest grass clumps without the slightest difficulty. I recommend them without reservation.

Really Sharp and wonderfully easy to use. I 'attacked' the garden as soon as they arrived. Wow! A few hours with these and so much done and today (day after) I ache so much! So glad I bought these. Best I've ever used. Is you want a great pair of shears do buy these.
