for the price, it is a great deal. It works very well and easy to mix and make black noodle sauce. Flavor is good and not much to complain about.

The product arrived safe and sound without any leaks or spills. It had plastic shrink around the lid for added protection, but the jar is glass so there is no plastic seal directly around the opening like we are used to here in the states. The price might seem high, but this is a concentrate, or a base, to sauces so it will last a long time.I bought the Assi wheat noodles and made a quick sauce, serving for one, out of this and it was delicious!!! I mixed 1 tablespoon of the paste with .5 tablespoon coconut oil, 2 tablespoons of chicken bone broth and a .5 teaspoon of pure maple syrup. Heated it all together in a small pan and poured it over the noodles. Total black bean sauce heaven!!! Think this fermented food will be a staple in my house from now on.

The bottle came bubble wrapped and when i opened it the seal was very loose and i took it off and it was covered in the dried paste and the lid was cracked and leaking the paste.

Product was very well wrapped. Bubble wrapped in box. Somehow cracked in transit and leaked into packaging. Washed cover to assess damage. It smelled wonderful and was super thick like you would barely be able to stir it. I just did not try because of not knowing how long it wasn't sealed without refrigeration. I'd try again once.

I have used this black bean paste to prepare chicken with black bean sauce with dry fried green beans, at least a dozen times in the past 6 months. I highly recommend this black bean sauce, as it is representative of one of the most popular umami flavors used in classic Chinese cuisine.

Korean American here, on my search for the right jjajangmyun sauce. This is not it. It tastes just fine, but it's missing the taste I'm looking for. It's the flavor I remember eating at restaurant with great jjajangmyun.

The jar came intact without leaks, but the jar definitely needs a better lid. Otherwise, the bean paste made a great Jajangmyeon.
