very good results
I got great result with this hair styling clay. I have a skin fade with longer hair on top which I like to style over to one side but not neatly, thick and textured (similar to a textured French crop, with a small quiff with quite high volume). The clay is exactly how clay should be, thick and firm but malleable, tacky and pliable. Rubbed into my fingers I got great coverage and no bulk or clumps left in strands of hair. I managed to work in my style with ease.My initial results were good but I found that coming back to it in half an hour I get it exactly right. It allows my hair to be thick and have natural texture which looks great. Completely non greasy. It lasts throughout the day. And allows for a couple of preening and rework sessions too.The scent is wonderful. Very traditionally masculine without being overwhelming.Overnight, after sleeping without washing out it leaves no trace in my hair and I can run my hands through as if it wasn't there. No nasty residue left on my pillows either, so I am unsure as to where it goes but it seems to leave no trace.Washing out is a doddle. But I found washing it off the skin on my hands troublesome for some reason. I've had other clays that wash off hands easily but this one needs me to really clean it off. Still not enough to put me off it at all.The price would put this out of range for me normally. It works just as well as other lower priced brands, which I'd normally consider as expensive such as Dax, Fudge and Fish. The results are similar, but this excels in reworking and also washing out credentials.

Oily residue
Whilst you get a good amount of clay for the money I personally found it was very disappointing when used. The hold itself isn't particularly good so you are required to use more of it. That is problematic as it's actually very oily and incredibly difficult to wash the remainder off your hands once you've used it (after two washes with soap I still couldn't shift the oily feeling and was forced to use a towel to wipe the rest away). The smell isn't particularly nice and the look is definitely more shine than matt. Not recommended.

Crap
Got the item and turns out is contains almond oil which when you look at the ingredients on the picture they are totally different to the product an absolute joke

Matt Clay for Men BlueBeards Revenge Hard to Get Soft in Cold Weather
Using in colder weather a bit of a meddle I say. It takes ages to try to get it to soften to be able to use. Not just a case of get small amount and rub into palms of hands then out through hair to style. Suppose come warmer weather it will be easier it use but right now it seems to leave clogged bits in hair too which isn’t that great. More a warmer weather one or take longer in your getting ready time to get some of this to soften up. Honestly mine was as hard as a rock to try to get out even at room temperature. What I can say is that it doesn’t leave hair looking greasy or shiny but just the tiny bits in hair really annoyed son who at first thought it to be a great product. Think we both agreed better in warmer weather or when it’s been used a few times then easier to get out and more mouldable.

The best Matt Clay I have tried.... (seriously).
When it comes to men’s hair products, it can often feel like a hit and miss situation where getting the perfect hold, texture and even scent can feel like mission impossible. Finally, it seems that I have finally found a men’s Matt clay that ticks all of the boxes. At first, £20 may seem like quite a premium to pay for a small tin, though that’s exactly what you are paying for. I have medium length hair and only a pea size is sufficient to cover the entirety of my hair whilst providing a firm hold throughout the day. This Matt clay by ‘The Bluebeards Revenge’ allows you to have the freedom to style your hair with freedom both upon application and throughout the day. Hence, you have the ability to make a quick fix incase your hair style undesirably changes during your day at work/school or even during a special occasion. I found that the odour was quite similar to a classic men’s aftershave scent though it wasn’t overpowering with an artificial fragrance. Rather, it’s subtle and gradually fades throughout the day. It is pleasant and has for sure got me some compliments in just over a week that I have been using this product. Not to mention, it hasn’t damaged my hair (or scalp) and was super easy to wash out of the hair using a little shampoo. A truly high quality Matt clay that’s worth giving a go if you’re looking for one (you can’t really go wrong).Thank you for reading my honest review, I hope you found it helpful! :)

On paper it looks ideal but I've not managed to use it effectively despite trying
I've really tried to give this a chance but I'm honestly struggling to get on with it. I'm mainly a gel user, but I've used various clays in the past and on paper this looks ideal. The scent is light and pleasant, the ingredients look spot-on. I've been struggling to actually use it effectively though, without just clumping or being so little as to have no hold. The paste warms up whilst it works in your hands but it doesn't really seem to get any looser or more viscous so I was finding I needed to literally try and scrape it off my palms into my hair a lot of the time. It's possibly my technique, perhaps it's a byproduct of having natural ingredients in different batches that vary in properties.
