SCHLAGEFE595 CAM 619 GEO Camelot Keypad Entry with Flex-Lock and Georgian Style Knobs, Satin Nickel

Bought this after two of my Weiser locks stopped working. This is much faster than using a traditional key, and now I don't have copy keys for the babysitter. Has survived a Canadian winter so far. Easy to setup and delete passwords. At first I thought 4 digits might be too easy to hack, but then I realized it locks you out for a while if you guess wrong 3 times. My favourite part is the battery is not used to open/shut the lock (you still twist the bolt with your hand), so not worried about the batteries running out any time soon. I put them on all my doors so that if one ever does run out before I notice, I can always just go to the next lock. I had to make my door look size bigger, the best way to get a couple of pieces of scrap wood, drill a 2 1/8" hole in each and then clamp them on either side of the door. You can use those as guides to make sure everything is centered and positioned properly.

I have bought this type of digital lock where you input code and lock automatically opens but found they were a pain with batteries going weak due to working hard to open bolt. In winter door can shift so lock is a bit stiff then it doesn't have the power to open bolt. This unit solved that problem as you have to turn knob after code is input so doesn't matter if it is a bit stiff. Has worked great so far would recommend for doors that don't have a dead bolt and you don't want to install one.

The lock itself is great, but the particular unit that Amazon sent me was apparently a return from a previous sale. I noticed that the packaging was not new, and once the box was opened I could see that various components had been re-bagged and taped up. I should have immediately sent it back, but itself I thought to might be fine, so I went ahead and installed the lock.Installation was a little trickier than it needed to be because the instructions in the box were for a different unit (with levers, not knobs) and had no information on how to attach the knobs. Eventually I figured it out, but was disappointed to find that that the rubber keys were a bit 'sticky' and need to be tapped carefully. Quite different from the other Schlage lock I'd previously installed.By this point I'd spent a couple of hours preparing the door and installing the lock, and I didn't feel like un-doing all my work. I'd been sort of sloppy with the unpacking, so I guess I'm stuck with this unit. I think I can probably live with the sticky buttons, but next time I'll buy locally so that I can check that I'm getting a virgin package.

Very easy to use once installed, and the directions are very clear. I also found online videos on how to program & reprogram the lock to add & delete codes at will. This thing looks & feels like it will last a generation. Of course, I've always trusted Schlage...

Installed the product within the month. Installation frustration at first. It would have been easier if the instructions were for the knob version rather than the lever version. After trial and error and u-tube, I found that the longer necked knob went on the side with the keypad. Also found that it should be installed before putting the keypad on the door. A dental hook makes the knob installation easier to depress the compression button to slide the knob on. The rest of installation was simple enough and the inside, short necked knob is easy to put on and remove. Can't comment on the longevity of the product, but only gave it 4 stars because of installation issues.
