I have one but I wanted to give this to my daughter so this is a good cook book. Great instruction with lots of pictures

I married into the Japanese culture and this book is one of my favorite gifts. Being exposed not only to authentic Japanese home-cooked cuisine lovingly made by my in-laws but also having lived in NYC with access to some of finest Japanese restaurants as well, I've been lucky to taste some of the very best dishes one's palate could imagine. This book provides basic recipes for some of the most well known favorites from Japan like chicken teriyaki, steamed wontons, sukiyaki, sushi rice+rolls and many others. These recipes have become the gold standards that we enjoy over and over again - I've tried "fancier" books and fancier recipes but haven't found a single cookbook I can say I like better or use more often. Highly recommended for those that want SIMPLE, *great* recipes for standard Japanese favorites.

Great book for Japanese home cooking. Recipes are simple and easy to follow, and the back has a general section on sauces, Japanese utensils and ingredients, and Japanese methods of cutting and preparing food. Great step-by-step illustrations with each recipe. I love this book and have used it for years, which is why I searched for it online for my son instead of buying a newer cookbook.

The most comprehensive Japanese home cooking recipes you can get in one book. Not only does it tell you recipes, but also how to arrange, basic guides into knife skills, just everything. If you master this book, you turn into a Japanese house wife.

I had purchased this book years ago from an Asian market. I have worn my first copy out from so much use.
