Let's face it, good colored pencils or drawing pencils aren't cheap. The softer they are the quicker they get shorter and shorter. Since I do tend to be a bit ham-fisted, I prefer holding far back on the pencil to give me better control when shading. Unfortunately as my pencils got shorter that got harder to do.Enter the magic that is the pencil extender. Suddenly I could take something the size of a golf pencil and it was as useable for me as a brand new pencil.The bodies in these are super light weight but more than strong enough for their purpose. The clutch mechanism that holds the pencil tight is made of metal and screws together smoothly and holds the pencil incredibly firmly. It easily handles any of my drawing or colored pencils including Prismacolor premier.The body is hollow all the way to the bottom cap so you've got great flexibility in how you use it. It's also light enough that it doesn't grossly affect how the pencil feels when I use it.Two things I have noticed, the clutch mechanism will put tiny nicks into the exterior wood of your pencil if you over tighten it, but they're very small and don't affect its strength or usability. The second is that the knurled collar to lock the pencil in is a bit uncomfortable for me to hold when drawing, but it just takes a second to adjust the pencil in or out an inch and I'm good. It may not bother you at all.Overall it's a great value, easy to use, functional and does exactly what I needed, let me use my pencils down to a nub.
