The Marksman [DVD]

An old man and war veteran who is down on his luck gets caught up with illegal aliens crossing the border. Honestly the family is trash. They stole a lot of money from the cartel and then make a run for the border and end up dragging this poor old man into their mess. You have to despise them for this.Then the mom dies and the old man shoot the brother of a cartel boss. Once this happens you already know things will come to a bad ending. They always do. Still the old man with no real desire to live anymore and knowing he won't escape payback from the cartel decides to help the boy out by becoming what he despises which is a coyote for hire. Even good guys get swayed by money I guess.Then the country song ensues where his truck gets shot up, his dog dies, and he dies in the end. The old man battles his hate of the kid for walking into his life and his desire to do what he thinks is right, which is to save an innocent kid who lost his mom because of his family's stupidity. Of course the old man who is a marine takes out the bad guys along the way because that is what marines do!To be honest, the story sucks and I hate the plea for sympathy for illegal immigrants because I have no sympathy for people who purposely break the law.That being said, Liam does a FANTASTIC job with his acting and the boy does ok too. They also do a great job of showing Liam being a tortured soul dealing with decisions that are not easy to make. I feel sympathy of Liam and not the boy. At the end of the day though I think I agree with the old man and that he made the right choice. His family was dumb as rocks but he is a good kid who doesn't deserve to die for their mistakes.In the end Liam dies doing what he believes is right instead of wasting away as a homeless man who lost his house to the banks after being bankrupted by medical care that no one can afford these days. For VALHALLA! A heroes death indeed.

Say what you will about Liam Neeson's recent output, he always fully commits to a role and The Marksman is no exception.

Really nicely done, Liam is always a favorite of mine. The reason why the headline says typical, is because Hollywood always gives the good guy a bad ending, plus a bad ending to his dog. Haha, we are on to you.

Ich mag die Filme von Liam Neeson, habe so gut wie alle gesehen. Hatte michauf den neuen Film auch gefreut, bin aber sehr entäuscht.Sicherlich ist er actionsgeladen, das steht fest, inhaltlich ist soeine Story aber schon X-mal verfilmt worden und somit ausgeluscht .Einsamer Wolf meet Drogensyndikat!
