I let my first black belt kenken book sit on the shelf for over a year because I just could not succeed with the 2nd half of the puzzles - the ones without the signs. So, I went through about 3 more brown belt books. This is my second black belt book now. I like this series best. Not a lot of room for notes, but the pages erase very well and stand up to a lot of handling. When I bomb out of a puzzle I put a line through it. After 10 or so pages I erase the unsuccessful puzzles and start in on them again. I inch my way through the book doing a puzzle or two a day. It's a soothing and rational world to go to. I first started doing Kenken puzzles when I read that they helped you think logically. I had to start with the easy ones and work my way to harder ones over time.

I like puzzles. I like really hard puzzles. These are really hard. The most difficult 9x9 Sudoku puzzles rarely take me more than 20 minutes to solve. Each of these puzzles takes me hours.There are 300 puzzles, 2 per page. The top puzzle on each page is 8x8, the bottom is 9x9. The first half of the book includes operations, but the last 150 puzzles don't (meaning each box does not tell you if it is multiplication, division, addition, or subtraction).Do NOT get this book if you want an introduction to Ken Ken or a primer that lets you build up to the more challenging puzzles. The very first puzzle is extremely difficult.

I bought this KenKen book 1 1/2 years ago and have nearly completed it. I’ve enjoyed hours of fun with it. The puzzles are just difficult enough to make them interesting and entertaining. Love the extra challenge in the last half of the book that omits the math symbols. Hoping I can find another book comparable to this one, if not I’ll reorder this one!

I've actually had 3 copies of this book. I lost each of the first two before I had finished. And its not like you are going to remember how you solved each puzzle, so maybe some day I'll buy a 4th. These are way tougher than the little 6x6 puzzles in the newspaper; they are 8x8 and 9x9. And, in the back half of the book the puzzles don't identify the arithmetic operation. Great when you get tired of watching movies on a long flight (but only if you like doing this sort of puzzle.

Fabulous book if you like hard Kenken. Puzzles are challenging but tractable. Book has 300 puzzles (for $10), half operationless. There are two per page, a compact size which works well for me. Some reviewers have complained about the format being too small, but I find that in general, if you’re making many notes, you’ve probably missed something!

The book I got is defective. From puzzle 151 onward, there are no operations printed, making the puzzle unusable. Unfortunately, I only found out once I worked my way to puzzle 151....timing me out of my return/refund allowance.

The puzzles are two to a page so very little room to work the puzzle, small squares. Paper quality is good, nice bright white.

I have a pretty easy time solving Ken Ken puzzles in my newspaper. The ones in this book are much harder. Thank goodness I can peek at the correct solutions in the back of the book.

It's correct for me

I recently reviewed another ken ken book and asked for more difficult ones. At last I have been rewarded and highly recommend this book. Definitely not for beginners, you need to combine the advanced skills of sudoku, killer sudoku and kakuro to be able to tackle these. Each page contains an 8 x 8 and 9 x 9 puzzle. With so many options in some cases, it is easy to go wrong. But if you love a challenge, this is the book to have.

賢くなるパズルの海外版。しょっぱなからなかなか手ごわく、難しい！が、はまります！！突破口が見つかると、ペンが進む進む。。。たのしいです。ただし、マス目が小さいので、拡大コピーしてチャレンジしています。
