Much easier to do the motor replacement on a workbench as the metal "drive" assembly (in the awning tube) is a tight fit and would be hard to slide in when up on a ladder.Works great - did have to drill a hole in the carefree awning housing to allow access to the upper adjustment screw since part of that "apron" was in the way - just used a stepped drill bit and the hole does not show when the unit is retracted.

I have had three of these fail now. No other choices I can find of course. Taking the device apart shows it is very well build but something is failing. Might be the limit switches which based on their design could be the issue. Not worth repairing. I actually put the date on the motor and it is just under one year now. No warranty information posted on site.

I received and installed this awning motor. It worked for a couple of months and quit. and they say there is no warranty. I buy a lot from amazon and cant believe Amazon would al[ow this. I have to have more faith then this in my parts I sell and install for customers.
