Small and reliable, good sound
The day after this arrived I used it as shore marshall on a regatta, talking to boats all day for the full weekend with no problems. It's nice and small and the sound was better than the well-known Icom radios my colleagues had. The basic controls (channel, volume) are easy but the small screen and few buttons make it a bit awkward to change the advanced settings; you have to remember what all the abbreviations mean. But I usually set the radio up before I leave the house and rarely change advanced settings during the day so that's not a problem. For example once you have set it to US or International you're probably never going to change that again right?

Useful performance
Received this last night and put onto charge directly.Set works as it should....slightly confusing set up instructions, but I muddled through and it seems to be at least as good as the rather elderly Icom hand held we have on our boat.Speech traffic is very clear on receiving. I will try Transmit later this week and put a further note here on how the marina hears me asap.*** UPDATE***Transmit received loud & clear ( 5 X 5 ) in Marina.Overall, seems like a good purchase*** Further Update ***Definitely a good purchase.!cheers colin

Bargain
Works a treat! Not a super massive range (as it’s a mobile unit with a little rubber duck aerial), but considering the price tag it punches way above its weight.I guess 1.5-2nm line of sight - maybe a bit more on a good day.Anyway, it’s good enough for me, so hopefully will be for you too!

Simple to use
Havent tested if its waterproof yet. I brought this as an easy handheld option to have on the boat when not at the helm. Ive tested it with my permanently mounted vhf. And it works fine.

Charger problems?????.
VHF Charger cable has ""USB"" plug. But Charger Power ""USB"" Sockets are not ""standard USB Voltage"".Mobile Phones etc could be damaged if plugged into them.I will arrange alternative charging and throw away ""USB"" Sockets.

Works well
Only gripe with product is lack of instructions. Works really well. You do need to get licence to use it.
