Great book for intro level HTML - super layout with accompanying tutorials.
I am using this for book for an online college class. It is fairly easy, as college texts go. I like the organization of the book, that each chapter teaches some topics, offers a tutorial with exact expected answers in the book (the accompanying files are free online), and then offers additional tutorials for extra practice on each chapter (accompanying files also found online). Some might say that having the answers right there in the book makes it too easy, but I find that I like to be walked through a valid working example and see for myself what happens. Then I can play around with those tools and on my own. I would buy from this author/publisher again.

Okay for what it does.
Not bad for the price I paid. Every page was in the book (though not all were completely attached). It's serving its purpose, even if it is outdated.A newer version would be better for people just starting on HTML 5, instead of some sections being history lessons/hybrids with HTML 4 <tags>, such as <div>.

I really like the exercises
I've used several different programming books for school. So far, this is one of my favorites. I really like the exercises, the real world applications, and having the tutorial materials online. I don't feel as lost as I usually do while learning a language.

Good book few weird oddities
Overall the book is very useful though you can look up a lot of it's content online, if you prefer a book this isn't too bad....One big gripe I have it though that few of it's exercises are bit off. for example the sports blogger one, I couldn't get the back ground color of comment back to actually wrap around comment box stuff. or it's great the it's showing two ways of making forums but I'd like it to be consistent through out.

other than Javascript portion, it is useless
just watch Youtube or google it. You will learn faster

Great book -- downloadable files may need work.
The only reason I gave this a four rather than a five is because the downloadable files that came with the book weren't always proofed carefully. Other than that I found this an excellent source for HTML and CSS including how to write the current versions of both languages and also to accommodate different browsers and devices. One of the better books I've seen on this with useful tips and step-by-step tutorials.

It's really a great book to learn HTML with
This is probably the largest programming book that I've had. It's quite a beast. The book takes it's time, and there are a ton of walking through steps. It's really a great book to learn HTML with, it'll take you a long time to work through it especially if you do the examples, but it's well structured, and you will really know the topic afterwards.

Overall this textbook is a very good learning tool
Overall this textbook is a very good learning tool. It tests your cognitive thinking ability, and the directions are clear and precise for around 98% of the instructions. With very little editing, this textbook could and would be a top notch teaching guide for hand coding Web pages / Web sites.
