This superb study of Bantock's musical output provides a thorough survey of the composer's manuscripts and their location, and must inevitably become the standard authority on the subject. But it also raises the question of why so much magnificent music is today totally neglected, when the recording companies mine ever more remote and often deservedly neglected music by non-British composers.
