Is this non toxic and safe to use with fondant

To be honest, I wouldn't put any food stuff on this mat, especially if you do use it for arts and crafts. Though I'm sure it would be ok if you ONLY use it for that purpose. Silicone mats are perfect for fondant making. Just make sure you clean it thoroughly and don't use sharp knives on it as food will get caught in the cuts. These mats are good but they will eventually wear out if heavily used. By the way, you can buy silicone mats that have circular designs on it as size guidance for your cakes etc.

Read a review of this on another site that said don't get it wet as the markings will come off! Is this true?!

This I'm not to sure on. For some strange reason most arts & craftsman don't clean their cutting mats. Though I do use a wipe to wipe up the odd spill as I do rely on the guidelines on the mat. My mat is still ok now at a year old! No faded letters or lines, just the odd faint paint mark from acrylics and light score marks from using a craft knife.

Could Acetone be used to clean these mats?

Definitely not any solvent will strip the print and even melt the surface But they clean east with soap and water

I need something like this for coin counting, to protect my worktop surface from scratching.. so will coins essily slide on this or is it non slip? T

Folks also use such "self-healing" cutting mats for computer-mouse pads because the outer layer is a pvc that's similar to some high-traffic, durable school mouse mats etc. If you have never used one but know the feel of a pvc covered ring binder I imagine the slide/friction qualities would be not too dissimilar.
