Plastic but seems strong enough for a 95-lb kayak.
I got the side-loading ones (580) but they work for loading from the back too (just lifting kayak a bit and using t-bar loading in the back). It keeps the kayak very stable at up to 70 mph on the highway. It does not move at all. It is also a perfect fit for Malone aero bars.

Jeep Wrangler JK on Rhino Rack with Wilderness Systems Tarpon 105 and 120
Works pretty well on my Jeep Wrangler. I was hoping i could buy 2 sets and get 2 Wilderness Systems Tarpon Kayaks on to top of my hard top but they require a tad bit more space than half the width of the rack.

Perfect companion to the Rhino Rack Universal Side Loader Rack for Kayaks/Canoes
My wife uses the Rhino Rack Universal Side Loader Rack for Kayaks/Canoes to load her kayak single-handedly, and these Rhino-Rack kayak carriers work perfectly.

These are great, but if you're using the Thule Evo Wingbar, order the 570.
I got these with hopes of using the T Bolt system to cleanly attach to my Thule Evo Wingbar system. I received these and could not get them to fit in the roof rack. The T bolt goes into the channel between the rubber strips just fine, but the Nautic has a plastic tab that also needs to slide through the channel, which does not fit. If they just had two T bolts instead of one T bolt and the plastic tab, these would have been great. I'm returning these and ordering the 570, which clamps around the bar instead of through the rack channel. Unfortunately, it won't be as clean a look.
