I ordered this thermometer for my Big Green Egg. It is larger than my original that came with the green but it is easy to read.

Its hard to measure accuracy of a thermometer that goes to such high temperatures, since the only "reference temperature" you have is boiling water -- it looks close. Close enough for me certainly. Its bright, colorful, and easy to see at a good distance. I like it!

I ordered this as an upgrade for me egg. Looks good, big display and advertised as waterproof. I got it in good condition. Packaging was fine. It said you cant adjust the temp. So, i made a mark at freezing point. Left it in ice water for 20mins. All good right. I smoked a salmon fillet in my egg with it. All still good. Left it out to cool down for the night. When i got to it the next morning. The gauge read the current temp as 900 degrees!! I checked it out with the ice water test. Since i made a freeze mark. The neddle moved 1/8 of an inch. No where near the original mark. So, got a hold of amazon. And the return was free. Just had to bring it down to a ups store. Simple. They also sent a replacement that day i filed the complaint. Got it 3 days later in good condition. Checked it out. Made the freeze mark again. Then smoked a semi-boned lamb roast. Damn was that good!! Anyway, did the same thing as before. Next morning i looked and the needle seems to be in a reasonable place. So, i did the ice test again. Bingo!! Square on the freeze mark!! Decent product. Looks good and is accurate (when you get a good one). A good upgrade for that 5-8 overhaul of a BGE. Would buy again and recommend to anyone reading this. Amazon return service is great!! Whole return went great.

Decent value. I’ve bought a few of these. Accurate. They don’t last forever. Eventually they fog up and get wonky. So far so good.

Great replacement for my green egg

It is such a relief to have a larger display than the original one that came with the Big Green Egg. Now I can see it from my patio window from inside the house which is good for the winter. I can monitor it from inside the house. I also compared the readings with another trusty thermometer and they read pretty much the same. In the attached picture you can see the readings of both thermometers agree.

After 20 years of wonderful big green heaven the summer of 2024 I said time to freshen up the bbq table.. upgrade to the new BGE metal closure kit and thought let's do the thermometer...this one is so much prettier and works just fine....

It does not read low temps under 300 degrees
